He’s had 5 years and 4 of those years we’ve missed finals. How many of the same re-occurring issues have cost us this season?

Any other club and he’d be gone but knowing Freo they’ll re-sign him for another 5 years because they celebrate mediocrity and “close enough is good enough” for them
Look he remembers everyone’s birthdays and is always up for a cuddle. What else do you want in a coach?

2021 we played St kilda at Hobart with finals on the line on the last day and got flogged by 10 goals in a gutless performance

Today was just as gutless.

I think the club stay the course for next year but gee I reckon JL would have preferred Carlton winning today now.

A horrible finish to a season and you can't whinge about injuries as every club goes through it.

Yeah the game plan doesn't hold up under modern finals pressure. Experience is a huge cop out here

We got absolutely done by Butters and Horne-Francis who are 23 and 21 respectively. Butters has barely played 100 games and Horne-Francis has barely played 50.

I do not want to hear the age or experience excuse again. It is an excuse for mediocrity.

When you re-sign a player as hopeless as Banfield for two years with an option of a third, then you have no idea.
Couple that with playing two players short every game ( Fyfe, Walters are not AFL standard now) then good luck.
Part of our recruiting should include a strong defender, hand-me-dowm MacDonald doesn't cut it.

Will get all of 2025 (and another year wasting the best list we've ever had) to end up at the conclusion many of us have already suspected for a while. It's not even the inspirational/motivational aspect (which is clearly lacking), i think he is incredibly overrated as a strategist and innovator.

This guy is going to waste this list. He is another Chris Connolly/ Mark Harvey. If we don’t act soon we are just repeating history. You can’t tell me when Fremantle was going through the selecting a coach process that the best candidate just so happened to be an ex Fremantle person who is part of the boys club they have formed.

Hey now Fyfe and Walters were elite five years ago so they should just be an automatic inclusion. Stuff the young players waiting in the wings, what have they ever done for us?

"Clearly"

Most uninspiring muppet draining the life-force out of an otherwise talented list. Far from the football oracle some would paint him as, puts some convoluted "process" in place for game day then is an absolute passenger cowering in his box for 120 minutes either perplexed with his hands on head, or fist pumping like a cheerleader on the rare occasion a chain of 15 handballs link through the center and we jag a shot on goal. Never seen him send an instruction in any cross to him during play, I am not convinced he does anything.

Objectively:
  • unable to react to opposition tactics
  • plays favourites, no selection integrity
  • poor starts (both 1st and 3rd quarter... I figure its his lectures)
  • poor at F50 stoppages, attack from kick-ins, defending kick-ins... just coachable aspects of the sport in general

Injuries (best run of health in years) and player age are no excuse. He's had a schools education length of time at this club with our core players, and despite talent these players are not at the level they need to be... skills, setups, game day mindset. All JLs remit.

Time to set some real standards.

He won't be sacked, but I don't care if he does at this point.

The lack of intensity we've shown all season is garbage. 3rd worst pressure team. Even being mid table would probably be enough to have finished top 4.

I thought we'd come out firing giving there was no reason to hold back, but Port outdid us early. We just don't want it enough. You can't be conserving energy that way and have nothing left to run over teams in the 4th.

I think its the wrong method and its going to get him sacked eventually, might as well be now.
