How does Caldwell fit into a midfield of Merrett, Shiel, Heppell, Parish, McGrath and now Dunkley?
Surely he reconsiders...
Easy.

Dunkley, Parish and Caldwell as inside mids.

McGrath and Shiel as inside/outside mids.

Merrett and Heppell on the wing.

It pushes D Smith and Walla out of the midfield rotation completely. Stringer will probably play midfield when Dunkley goes forward.

Plus, we always have injuries/suspensions so there's bound to be some movements

We generally use a 5 player inside rotation. Dunkley, Shiel, Caldwell, Parish and McGrath mostly inside. Merrett, Heppell and Langford as the wingers

Dogs: dons future first, o'halloran, gws pick 40.
Gws: dons pick 6, Daniher compo
Dons: caldwell & dunkley.
Would be dependant on other deals (Daniher & Saad) because Essendon have to take this years (and next? Lore) to apease the AFL rules of the 2 in 4 year first/second round drafting rules.

Giving up 3 first round picks for the pair? Pass

Port are looking to offer their second (pick 26 to us) for Fantasia.

I sincerely doubt we're looking to do anything of the sort for a player whose missed 50% of the last three seasons and was last good in 2017. That pick 26 crap is standard Melbourne media garbage. If we were trading Fantasia to Essendon they'd be sprouting '4th rounder at best' faster than they could type.

You've got a likely first round bid to match so you wont get to use that pick 26 anyway. I'd expect it to be used but change would be coming back

You don't want it to be on the table, doesn't mean it isn't

A cup of water is on the table too. That's closer to his value.

Still or Sparkling?

Sparkling, but it's from a bottle that's been open too long and it's gone flat.

You could say it's not as good as it used to be.

this works assuming we get a 1st from Carlton for Saad (that way we're taking 2 picks in this 4 year block)
And Daniher comp is Band 2 (i.e pick 20). If it's band 1, we'd be giving up 6 & 7, which would see the Giants getting quite the return on 2 kids with less than 20 games between them.

I would make a change about what I posted earlier and swap the daniher compo with the pick from fantasia if 4th rnd because caldwell & O'hallaran will be worth 6 together and a later pick. The only problem is dons finding a future first to bring in to theirs to to Dogs to be approved by AFL.

So we give a future first, our pick 6 and Daniher's compo (which is pretty much another first)? 3 first rounders? No.
Considering Caldwell is worth Daniher's compo (late first), that values O'Halloran and pick 40 at pick 6, which is crazy! O'Halloran is worth a late second/early third. The trade should favour Dogs more than GWS.

More like:

Dogs: dons future first, O'halloran, dons pick 26 (received from Port for Fantasia)
Gws: Daniher compo (or pick 17 if Brisbane trade Daniher) and a third
Dons: caldwell & dunkley.

Dons give away a future first, pick 26 and our 3rd for Dunkley and O'Halloran
Dogs give away Dunkley for our future first, our second and O'Halloran
GWS give away Caldwell and O'Halloran for a first and a 3rd.

I highly doubt dogs would target a mid if they lose Dunkley though.

I just posted the change earlier and Fantasia wont net a 2nd round pick unless something is going with him. Just too injury prone. More likely it'll be 53. which coupled with 6 will cover both players.

Port have reportedly already put pick 26 on the table for Fantasia. Picks don't really matter all that much to them considering they'll be using it to match a bid. We'll probably give something back to them to give them enough points to match the bid.

Jye Caldwell

No.11 draft pick Caldwell has expressed his desire to return to Victoria and play for Essendon.

Dodoro said the Bombers had begun talks with the Giants for the inside midfielder, who this year played nine games in his second season.

"We really rate Jye. He's only played 11 games over the last two years and he's expressed his interest to get to Essendon," he said.

"I spoke to (GWS football manager) Jason McCartney this morning and I'm sure we'll have further chats. He's got a fair bit on his plate at the moment as well."
