How do you rate the kicking ability and the pace of :
Salem
Freeman
Both seem to have good pace with Freeman's kicking a little better in my opinion.

I like Freeman for pace because he's one of those rare few who can really burst through traffic. Just has that extra explosiveness.

For kicking ability I like both Salem and Freeman. Freeman as a finisher is excellent but I'd favour Salem for finding targets around the field as one of the better field kicks in this draft.

How ready to play Is the Eastern Ranges man mountain Knightmare? (Thomas Boyd)

He can play season one. He's not going to dominate as quickly as Jeremy Cameron but he and Jesse Hogan can play round 1 next year if you want them to. Just as with all young key forwards it will come with inconsistencies.

Your thoughts on m gibbons nsw and murray bushranger mid fielder

High production inside midfielder having a strong year. Good tackler and wins his own footy. Playing some consistently good well. Footskills can hit and miss though and can try to do too much.

As a late draft/rookie prospect he could be worth a shot.

I think after the championships, Perris will be a steal for us.

Perris is a good one. Worth a late first rounder in my view.

Who would be he best fit for Bulldogs? Nathan Freeman sounds perfect to me. Billings is apparently the next Brad Johnson, true?

Who does Perris remind you of Knight? Seems to be an accumulator but gets a high amount of tackles as well.

He reminds me of the Sydney midfielders as that hard, but high motor two way runner.

Dan Hannebery, Kieran Jack. They're all made of the same stuff and so is Perris.

WBD need some better users of the footy.

Boyd/Aish/Scharenberg/Kelly if there will more likely than not be those first looked at. Billings and Lennon as the elite ball users of the are the two I expect to get looked at.

Freeman is a fit for any midfield and would be another strong selection for the Dogs but probably doesn't go quite so early.

Is Darcy gardiner a reach at pick 10? Looks to be the best true defender this draft and would love to see him at the giants. Or is it possible that he slides to 20?

If you want him you'll probably need to use pick 10. Unlikely he slides to 20.

If needing a key defender pick 10 isn't a reach because he's the better of the bunch and the only one in this draft I really project as AFL quality with Giles and a couple of smaller key defenders as maybes.

Considering the needs of clubs , if he was there for Geelong R1 , I cant see how we would go past him.
Personally GC grab him , if not , GWS do at 10/11.
Lets see what guru KM say's

Knightmare , do we have any back ground on Marcus Bontempelli? Is he likely to grow , big family etc?
He was not the best performer but very impressed on what I saw.Has he done combine type testing before? I will be guessing he shoots up if he tests well

To be honest I wasn't overly impressed with him. Rather Spencer or Barras. What AlirAliir chance of being picked. A lot of upside I would have thought. No instant player but I like his attacking play.
I was very suspect on all these project players but after Blitz for Geelong this year I have change my tune a bit

As key defenders it's Darcy Gardiner (could go as high as top 10) or possibly Hourigan who while I like him as a key forward could also be swung back and could present an option when Geelong's selection comes around as a guy who has played and played well down back.
If Gardiner is there I'd be very surprised to see Geelong overlook him but I'm expecting he's gone by that point.

Bontempelli is still growing. This time last year measured in at 188cm and now is 191cm. As a guy with a late birthday and given his recent growth he could reach around 193cm at a guess without knowing his family history.
I don't know his testing results but he'll impress at the combine without question and wow some at his height.

Aliir has good closing speed but struggles 1v1 and in the air so he's just too far off to really be considered despite the good story it would be. Will need some years in the state leagues first.

Spencer or Barras possibly but they're late draft selections if they go.

Blitz is the exception to the rule as an off the charts athlete the AFL hasn't seen before with his endurance in another league, even beyond and midfielder we've seen which at his height is a major point of difference. Add to that his will to make it and his willingness to learn and real desire to make it and there's a very good reason why he is doing what he is doing.

Knightmare, I'm not sure Gold Coast reach for Gardiner. With Tape, Murphy, Cameron and Shade as the +190cm 3rd talls, next year I don't think tall defenders will be a need. I think they may just take the best player avaliable? Just my 2 cents. :)

Cousin of Nicky Dal, in case you weren't aware. Think they said during the coverage the other day that their mums are sisters.

You guys are apparently after someone mature and ready to go to play that role aren't you? You then also have Davis, Corr, Tomlinson, Jacksch, Mohr, Bruce, so what makes you think that is a major need you have? Do you not rate any or most of them? If not we'd probably be happy to take one or two of them off your hands. :thumbsu:

Hey mate

done a little bit more digging but the NSW/ACT ruckmen and Murray bushrangers player Max King seems like a bit of prospect.

200cm 90kg lad who seems like he has shown a few decent traits. Can kick goals (4 in a championships match, and a few cameos of 2 in the TAC cup), can win possessions around the ground (few mid teen possession games in the TAC cup) whilst his hitout numbers are reasonably good (again in the TAC cup - thanks to sportingpulse.com.au for supplying these for moi :p ).

I understand that ruckmen aren't really a need for teams, but I am looking for that project player ready in 3 - 4 years time.

The other ruckmen is Matt Hammellmann (sp?) from Queensland, an AIS - AFL Academy member for season 2013 and played in the championships for the U18 Scorpions.

Would love to know a bit more on both these boys, and as I understand both would be rookie prospects at best, perhaps the Queensland kid might end up at the Lions/Gold Coast through the zone selections.

Thanks in advance pal

King is part of the GWS Academy/zone so they get first crack

Matt Hammelmann is in the Lions academy so if no other club is keen on him they can take him with a late pick. than if another club is keen they can bid on him like father son. Also he's not older enough for this years draft he was born in 96.

King can go forward and take a mark which at his height does make him valueable. Very much a project though and there are others more physically developed and dominant at his height who can do the same things. And I'm not just talking Boyd. But Conlon, D.Cameron, Apeness and Nankervis are all strong marking forwards at 200cm and would probably be the guys I'd look at first.
King may be one to look out for in the later half of the season if he does show further progress though.

If looking for a project player get Darcy Cameron. He's a ruckman at 203cm but he's very capable up forward. Really Conlon having missed the year and Apeness coming from a rugby background would be another worth project.

Hammelman I haven't payed too much attention to with Conway, Tickner, Weller, Dawson and to a lesser extent Rogerson and Freeman the Queenslanders I have been watching. Hammelman kicked the match winner v NT but is a good size for a KPP but beyond that I don't know a whole lot about him. I'd recommend ask Quigley as our resident QLD expert with Hammelman being a part of the Brisbane academy.

How's Shane Nelson going this year do you see him getting drafted this year?

Comes back better ever year and already at a young age is one of the premier mids in the WAFL.

Strong midfielders draft and lots of quality smalls so given he has been overlooked the past couple of seasons my guess is no but it only takes one club and Kane Mitchell as a lesser skilled small made it so you can never say never.

KM, who would you have as the top five picks for next year? And a brief description of them if you could, thanks.
