News Krakouer and Macaffer set for shock early return

It is unlikely we will get these guys back into our firsts for finals however if we do this would both inject some needed class and experience into our finals hopes and confirm our medical and training staff are the best in the business.

Just imagine having a fit Johnson off the half back line, Krak at the feet of our big forwards and then have Macaffer and Didak as other forward options.... *drool*

With Goldsack holding down the 'defensive forward' role I dont think we need the Caf but its good to have him as back up.
Johno & Krak on the other hand are vital to our chances of winning the premiership IMO.
Our biggest weakness is the lock down small defender role and Johno is the best we have for that position. Plus his line breaking ability in tight games is super important.
The other thing we are missing is a genuine crumber. Sinclair has been sensational but its always handy to have 2 to allow one to let loose.
I was sitting next Rupert Betheras on Saturday and Benny J stopped for a chat. He seemed extremely confident of a return to VFL in 2 weeks. Given his history of returning to good form after long spells I expect him to return to the seniors by round 22 which will give him 2 matches in the seniors before the finals which should be enough of a base to be a key member in the finals.

Fingers crossed.

Yep he's become v important
Yes I think you are right he has become very important to us,I do not think he would have rested against the Hawks because he missed a couple just prior to the Hawthorn match.

It is great to get some good news about the club and the injured players cannot wait for all all our players to come back but there is no rush we do not want what happen to young Menzle to happen to any of our boys, goodluck to Menzle as well that should not happen to anyone the same with Morabito lets hope he,s back soon as well. `

It would be handy to get a few back but the chances of Krakouer, Macaffer and Johnson having any impact this year are not great given they aren't playing yet and will still have to get fit, confident and in touch before coming into finals. We can't go into finals with players not at 100%. It killed us last year.

Wellingham will be a plus. Didak is the other one that might provide a bost but I am wary based on last year. If he doesn't play a few good games before the GF, if we get there, then he shouldn't be played.

The answer to winning or not winning a flag this year lies by and large with those that played on the weekend. Better disposal coming forward and much better form from the forwards is what will have to get us there.

Im really excited about this although Kraks worries me a bit as when he plays he does alot of sharp turning which cant be good for a recovering knee.

I'm sure the knee has been tested and tested over and and over in all sorts of scenarios before they even cleared him to resume full contact training, let alone playing VFL or AFL.

Firstly, I apologise if a similar thread has already been created. Upon reading an article that investigated the health of injured players from each team, I came across Collingwood's section where it said that the Krak and Caff are 1-2 weeks away. This is confirmed on the Collingwood website.

I have a few questions regarding the above.

Firstly, since these blokes are coming back from a recco, what does 1-2 weeks away really mean in terms of VFL vs. AFL.

Secondly, do you believe that these two very important players will play some role during the latter stages of the 2012 campaign?

The "word" is the club are looking at Krak returning for the Sandringham game (2 weeks from Sunday) and then Caff returning the week after (Vic Park vs Casey).

It doesn't give them much time to get match fit, as we only have 4 VFL games left now after another stupid bye this weekend.

I think the chances of either playing in the finals are remote, they would have to play in the seniors before then to have any chance at all.

I was hearing the 4th of August up in Bendigo for Caff. That would be a pretty amazing comeback but would give him a run at the AFL even without VFL playing finals. Whether the club would risk him (or Krak/Jono) after the Bendigo and Casey games to throw them in against our "weakest" opponent, North in round 21, or Essendon in round 23.

VFL games remaining

4th of August: away vs Bendigo
12th of August: away vs Sandy
18th of August: home vs Casey
26th of August: home vs Werribee (AFL Rnd 22)

I think macaffer will be delisted, goldsack and elliot have taken his spot. I also see him playing no role what so ever this year in the senior team.. it'll take a year for him to get back to his best after he returns... he will be terrilbe and unfit and struggle in the VFL for at least 2-3 weeks. No chance what so ever.. lets be realistic.

Sorry but that's not realistic at all...

Im getting ahead of myself here but i will bet everything i own (not my pies Jumper) but everything else that if we make the Grand final Krak and Taz will be in the team. Its the clubs promise and agenda to give these guys a premiership medal.

Crap.

If Krak and Taz are in the best 22 come GF time they will play, if they're not they won't. Theres no way we would pick a GF team on sentiment. Assuming we make it that is.

Not sure I can think of one good reason why you'd delist a good solid running half forward with hands like vices and who kicks goals regularly when nobody has pretty much seen him play for nearly 2 seasons. That's not to say that any of these guys will get back this year but delisting seems like a very strange idea until we see how he returns and barring miracles, that probably won't be until early to mid 2013.

I dont agree....Caff is a good player.
He wont be delisted.

The opposite of what you are being

If both return this weekend, than the timing is just right.

Both will need at least 2, and more likely 3 VFL games under their belts before even being considered for AFL duty, especially given the toughness of our senior draw over the last 5 weeks. So if you factor in at least a two week VFL stint it would seem logical that they would return to the seniors for either the North Melbourne or West Coast games, which at least gives them 2 senior games under their belt leading into the finals.

Let's say they both play against West Coast and Essendon, then simply put they would be selected on form for the first week of the finals, and probably that form would be effected by a lack of match fitness too.

Anyway, great to see them back.:thumbsu:
