News Krakouer and Macaffer set for shock early return

If true it gives us that depth we have been searching for all year. If we can get the 6 back this week and those 2 ready in a couple of weeks and get them all in form there could be a very nasty shock for the haters come September. ;)

Surely Johnson is the most likely to take part in the finals given he would have been able to keep his fitness up with running and cycling, etc, after his shoulder reco. He always seems to go well fresh in the past and Caff and Krak will be struggling to get the required miles into their legs given the nature of their injuries. Are we trying to rush the 2 of them back too quickly in an all or nothing type of thing given that if they went down again they would probably have been delisted anyway?

Don't write off Krak, he is pure quality when on song and can destroy an opposition backline in a quarter of footy.

So rapt for the two blokes! We started the year off with no luck and everything against us and now we will end the year off with all the players coming back (except Bally) and everything will go our way including a premiership. All of a sudden our depth looks very good and even better than last season.

I don't think we will get anything significant from them this year, mostly because I don't think they are best 22 anymore. Krak may have appeal as a sub through the finals, but that is probably all. Macaffer won't be able to push past the likes of Goldy, Tarrant (when forward) and Paine for a spot.

yeah JB Krak is the interesting one, imagine being able to bring him on half to two thirds through the third quarter of the GF? Tell Dids to run his arse off for two and a half quarters and give it everything and then slip Krak in.

I still think Krak can have serious impact.

He has that body type, much like Didak who came back from a knee very very quickly. They say that the players with the lower centre of gravity (longer torso, shorter legs) tend to recover from knee surgery/injuries quicker than others.

Not sure on the theory behind it, but if it gets Krak back this year and winning matches for us as a sub, I don't give a f**k.

Yeah, I agree. Although I would have thought someone like a Benny Sinclair off for Krak. Let Benny shut it down for 2 and half quarters, and then let Krak come on with some extra offence and ice it in the last.

wow this is rather fast are we sure we are doing this right? seems kinda quick to bring them back

No, it is not it is right on track. I predicted this way back in early May and even picked this w/end as a possible return date for VFL. This was all based on Nathan Brown in 2011 when he did his knee and made the trip to Arizona. I did cals and it has worked out perfectly.

2 (maybe 3) weeks in VFL and they should be available for senior side.

What a boost for the club with finals just around the corner.

While I have said that I believe a return for either player is highly unlikely before next year, I have no problem with the decision to have them start back in the VFL as soon as they are deemed medically fit. The club has made it very clear that without that clearance (which I believe they have) they will not be playing any footy. If either of those guys has the mental capacity to overcome the natural misgivings and uncertainty that come with such an injury before next year it will be a massive bonus but I certainly wouldn't be hanging any hats on it. From my personal experience it takes way more than just medical fitness.

Crap.

If Krak and Taz are in the best 22 come GF time they will play, if they're not they won't. Theres no way we would pick a GF team on sentiment. Assuming we make it that is.

Yes to both comments here.

1 - Yes - I consider both of them in our best 22 if fit. In fact they walk in through my eyes.
2 - Yes - I was having a beer with a guy I knew back in 1990 in a pub in London and a broken thumb didn’t stop him from playing in a Grand final and I tell you now, he said no one was going to take his spot. So I guess in life Sentiment is a good thing and a possibility.

I recall watching a doco or possibly seeing some players talking and it was around the lines of we will do anything to get Krak into a winning grand final. Sorry to be so unsure but I do recall this somewhere.

I was thinking whether it would be possible to go to both games on Saturday, but doing the maths I reckon you'd be cutting it a bit close getting back to Melbourne from Bendigo after the game before the 7.40 start time for the seniors.

They should move the game to Windy Hill, just for our sakes.:p
