Speculation Kysaiah Pickett [RFA 2027]

Not me, would prefer Warner over Pickett. He’s a much better player. Though our list requires a pressure small. The difference between Switkowski and Pickett is smaller than the difference between Johnson / Erasmus and Warner.

The idea our midfield is elite is far from the truth. The games against Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon showed we are vulnerable in the middle. Even the first derby they got smashed by Elliot Yeo.
Your mids are all too similar. Smaller accumulators(outside of Young). Fyfe being too old hurts.

Warner would help them be a lot more damaging, for sure.

Erasmus or Johnson coming on would massively help also.

It's a pity for Freo that Will Brodie's too lazy to defend, because he'd be perfect otherwise.

Johnson's been Fyfe's heir apparent for a while now. Has the strength inside and potentially the class outside too (he's deceptively quick over 20m). Has come back in ripping nick and bigger again (seriously has shoulders like Atlas) so got massive hopes for him this year. As you said, he rounds out the group. He also wasn't a million miles off scoring a decent amount last year.

Warner would be great, but feel Kozzy would add more. Happy if either come and would happily pay 2 firsts; we're mainly going to be drafting project players for the next two seasons, plus we have some good NGA coming through. Great position to be in tbh.

Okay so we have Bolton.....that's where the buck stops.

One elite small forward isn't enough, plus Bolton will be rotating through the midfield.

Outside of Bolton, our small forwards are:

Walters: Past it
Narkle: Solid depth player
Switkowski: Good but not a consistent goal scorer
Simpson: Not quite ready
DeLean: Nowhere near ready

Our medium and key forward stocks are fine, but we're in dire need of good small forward talents. Pickett helps massively.
Fredddy, Sturt, and we just drafted Reid.

Out of interest, what you Freo/WCE offer for Judd McVee? I know the answer will trigger me because he's a fan favourite, but I want to know what we're sitting on if teams come for him, which they will.

A pick in the 20s is probably right?
Hes OOC in 12 months time so that may affect his value negatively too.

Heard Judd Mcvee signed this current contract on shit money, and will be looking for big pay rise

Wce would offer $500k+ year at least in salary which would double his income

We struggle to pay 95% of cap now with half the list under 22

yeah, im triggered lol. I wouldn't trade him for a pick in the 6-10 range, and I'm sure dees fans would be the same. Being out of contract would hurt though.
A small lockdown defender generally wont hold much value in a trade, unfortunate for Melbourne if he wants to leave.
Would be a great fit for the Eagles, McVee could take opponents 2nd best small forward, a few clubs seem to be prioritising small forward lines these days

I think we will be asking about him anyway, potentially west coasts 2nd round pick would be on the table

He is a classic case of do not lose him

Young player, not established AFL wide, doesn't have the early pick buff (early picks who show potential cost more in a trade), no certainty to step up to midfield although he did look good there late too. (Is a brilliant small defender but they don't shift for big currency in that role)

You'd get something early 20s for him, which would feel like significant unders for Dees fans valuations

500k isn't going to move the needle. The dees' offer would be 700k+ surely. Hell it wouldn't surprise me to see 800k offers. The guy is a jet and doesn't get the credit he deserves. One of the best young players in the comp. Could be AA as early as this year and it's about time people acknowledge him. As you can tell, I'm super high on him but I acknowledge that we would get unders as would anything outside the first round be.

The big Dee three

All eyes are on Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzy Pickett heading into 2025 for obvious reasons. Petracca will be 30 by the time the 2026 season starts, so if he wants to leave again in 2025, he'll have more time to set it up and clubs will have more picks to play with to get it done. Pickett has got two years to go on his contract, but every off-season he flirts with a move and he's been linked with Fremantle, West Coast and Port Adelaide in the past. Those clubs will all come hard for him, but he is still contracted so the Dees have the right to make the play or not let him move.

So is Kozzy end of 26 or end of 27?

Twomey usually fairly accurate

Dees site says 27, weird one to get wrong when Dees have an actual timeline there

When you say Twomey is (fairly) accurate, he's not saying anything anyone doesn't know.

He's simply surmising the bleeding obvious.

A contracted Kozzy and we’re looking at 2 firsts. Unless Freo ended up took an unlikely slide down the ladder.

What if they finish top 4? That probably pushes Freo's 1st out to the late 20s given how compromised the draft is next year. 2 firsts then really doesn't look that great.
