After much thought I have pieced together my best dig at Lance Franklin's whereabouts in 2014. I do not no for sure that this will come about but give it a read and see what you think. Please post thoughts, it's as follows;

* Lance Franklin becomes out of contract at the end of the 2013 AFL season

* He will be a restricted Free Agent, in comparison The Travis Cloke of this year

* Hawthorn have said to be in talks with buddy all through this season, and with nothing coming of it, I believe Buddy wants to keep his options open and see what's there in 2013

* As Hawthorn are a very good side, it is most likely facing tight cap room, meaning the 1 mil might be out of the question for buddy and maybe would get about a 650,000-800,000 tops at hawks

I have heard from an impeccable source, the aunt of the Chinese gentleman running the Friendly Grocery Store at Docklands, that Buddy will be heading to Bomberland to join some young fellah (she could remember the guy's name) who went there last week from St Kilda, so that he will be able to celebrate another Premiership.

I reckon he'll head home in 2014, he looks like he's had enough of the media.

And what you think Perth is the answer

Some if the postings in this thread are ridiculous

The media in Perth is even worst :p Western Australia is like one big AFL town; sure there are two teams here, but those two teams are constantly fawned over, written about, scrutinised, etc etc. If anything, it'll be much worst with Franklin coming over here.

He will turn 27 in 2014 and he will be at his peak barring injury, he will be worth $1.5 -$2million a season by then, can Hawthorn come up with that sort of dough? Franklin would have to be a complete imbecile to sign on for anything less. I reckon both Fremantle and West Coast will throw every spare dollar at him. If it's an Ablett sized deal he wants then he will get it, all he has to do is dangle the bait. If Hawthorn want him to stay then they had better dig deep. Players are a long time retired, Ablett went for the money and he still loves Geelong, he's down in Melbourne every other week and when he retires it's unlikely he will stay up in the Gold Coast. Franklin can always return to Melbourne if he decides to return to Perth for 3 or 4 years. Age is on Franklin's side. He can sign a 5 year multi million dollar deal that could net him $10million at the end of it.

Iam sure WCE could use there sponsor BHP to offer him a visy like deal as the face if there indigenous programs in the north west of WA.

Story doing the rounds here is that its a done deal, Franklin to West Coast where he join forces with his old mate Sharrod. Visy type deal coming up for him and there isn't a thing anyone can do about it because the precedence has been set.

AFL came out earlier this year and said that if there was a Visy like deal offered now, they wouldn't allow it

They have a great capacity to turn a blind eye when it suits them.

Don't they just - when geelong attempted to strike a similar visy deal with ablett they very quickly changed the rules. Little gaz was going to the Gold Coast regardless of what geelong wanted. Master puppeteers are the afl

If WCE pay 1.5m - 2m per year Kennedy will be forced out. No bother, we'll take him* for 1/2 of that thanks. No way they will afford those 2 in the one forwardline.

*Must be de- Eagled prior. Sent through the sheep dip, no ****y haircuts, drug king pin buddies or Sons of Anarchy tattoos across the midrift. Essentially re enter the human race**.

** Oh yeah, he must also lose that Swan Lake run up to goal too.

Mate, no club could afford to pay that sort of money for 1 player for 5 years. It would completely f$$k up their list. If he wants to go to a stupid club like that, good luck to him.

I have no doubt Buddy will be at Hawthorn in 2014 and beyond. He;ll play for less than market price.

There's only one way you can make this all go away my friend.

wellingham's recruitment definitely puts the eagles in the box seat if franklin decides to leave.

a year ago, i would have never even completated franklin leaving. suddenly seems a lot more likely in the current landscape.

playing for the powerhouse west australian team of the AFL would have to appeal somewhat to buddy. i'd be concerned if i was hawks supporter.

Absolutely no chance he will get 2mil a year for 5 years. No one player will get that money again. The only reason Ablett got it is due to pretty unique circumstances, the GC had a massive cap and no one else to spend it on plus they needed a crazy offer to pry him from Geelong. He's not worth 2 mil a year, I'd be pretty pissed off if I found my club had made that sort of offer.

The fact that we're having this conversation says a lot about how much damage the AFL is doing to any notion that this game is Australian.

True, but does him going to WA really suit them. If he was say going home to Port they quite posslbly would allow it, but i doubt they would for 2 already strong clubs

As long as Roughy stays a Hawk, Buddy will stay :D Also Gibbo is a better wingman then Wellers :p

Bzzzt try again.

It was the players who pushed for FA to be introduced not the AFL commission.
