I totally agree.

There's no angle that show's head high contact. Obviously you can't get knock out from a tap on the shoulder, but there can be no murder without a murder weapon right...?
fyi, you can get knocked out without receiving any contact to the head

anyone remember rod grinter's bump on chris mew? perfect hip and shoulder to the body and poor old chris was out cold.

Is that right...? Hopefully the Hawthorn solicitors are onto that, bit of reasonable doubt never hurts...:thumbsu:

its called shock. when you are hit hard enough, your body shuts down in order to prevent serious injury (i know, makes little sense). It is the same as your body shutting down if you get too cold or too hot.

Its called newtons second law. When you go from 20 kph to 0 in a split second there must be a large force applied. Even if the contact is to the body a force must still act on the head to stop its momentum.

In car accidents its known as the 3rd collision the internal organs are still moving a split second after the car, then the body stop. This is what causes serious injury.

If cousins brain was travelling at 20kph then stops it must hit the skull to stop its momentum there doesnt have to be direct contact to the head becasue the body is attached to the head and will force the head to stop suddenly.

While i think in the spirit of the game he should not be ruled out. He knocked somone out cold, going on what we have seen this year i think a rough conduct charge will be given, and it will be dependant on points as to if he will miss or not.

should not be intentional high, or anything like that...

any word on what his points situation is?

Clean. Got points against Adelaide last year when he flattened Doughty (I think it was him) with something similar. Buddy went to bump doughty who had the ball, but Osborne tackled him from behind causing him to drop and Doughty's head got hit by Buddy's upper arm. He got 60 points if I remember correctly, but it was over 12 months ago so he's clear.

To be honest that was probably worse than this, because Buddy had the option to tackle there. This time he didn't have the option thanks to Cousins last second sidestep.

thats good for you guys then, clean sheet he should be fine, will be a rough conduct charge for sure. Thats about 200 points,

i think you need 250 to miss a game, should be good.

it's 100 to miss a game. If you're initially assed with 125 points, but you don't have carry-over or loading, then you can reduce it below 100 with an early plea.

I don't think he has any case to answer though. The match-day umpires learly felt it was within the rules, and the MRP is usually reluctant to go the other way in these cases. Generally, if the umpire had a clear view and felt the contact was within the rules, you will be okay.

I would be extremely dissapointed if Buddy has a case to answer. It was a fair bump. Brutal, but fair. This is supposed to be a brutal game.

The day AFL died.

Might as well pack up shop and rename AFL to Touch Football. ridiculous decision and Rance gets nothing. Shameful, shameful, shameful.

Except for the fact that he's out cold before he hits the ground.. you don't consider that to be proof of a head hit? You can plainly tell that he was knocked out by the why that his arms tensed up out to the side like that.

I agree that Franklin shouldn't get weeks for it, I think Cuz ducked into it accidentally and much too late for Buddy to pull out. Contact would have been fine & well executed by Buddy if Cuz didn't change direction at the last second. You can't deny it was clearly head high though.
checkout sundays herald sun ! picture on the back his head does not touch buddy only his chin ! he did damage when he hit the ground!

Great pic on the back page of the Hun which shows the exact point of contact. Buddy's arm is absolutely tucked in with not a hint of a raised elbow. The contact is to the neck and, importantly, I think, Cousins is buckling at the knees. Not trying to say he was deliberately trying to milk a free as Selwood does but if he had not started to sag the contact would not have been high.

I would be staggered if Buddy went for that.
saw that pic i hope they use it Ox is getting the blame i heard on sen all have sent their message of anger at him ! LOL

If that were the case, that overweight has been Wirrpanda would have copped eight weeks for ruining Mark Williams' season. Disgusting what he did.
i may have been punda's elbow dig into the back of Willo's knee that did that damage ! i saw it on the replay ! dirty dog he is told willo week later he said that is the second time punda has got him !
