I'm interested to see whether his salary affects the Dogs when the likes of Bontempelli, Macrae, Stringer and the other young guns start deserving $500k+.

Clubs are making the assumption that the salary cap will grow significantly over the next half decade, meaning what looks like unaffordable huge money will be less so then.

He actually said he hopes it fails so it doesn't set a precedent for other clubs to make moves like this, because it will really hurt clubs locking in big $ for so long on unknown quantities.

At least quote him in context.

From my view, I don't think the reason justifies the statement, hence I omitted it. But yes it is out of context as such.

So we cop shit about not going out to get one and when we do make a splash instead of settling for picking up some club's fringe spuds, we cop more shit.

Did he make any mention of our losing Griffen & Pick 6?

Nope did not mention that at all. Just how much he is earning. Seemed really harsh in my opinion. He wants Boyd @ the Dogs to fail just to teach clubs a lesson on financials.

Didn't Alistair Lynch get a 10 year deal at Brisbane?

Then he slept through a lot of the deal

TBH the Bulldogs had their hand forced when Griffin walked out on them. They had little choice but to poach Boyd.

Did the have to offer him a million dollars a season though?

I think it's going to be taken out of context by a lot of Doggies fans.

I agree with the principle of what he meant, on the face of it I hope and know he'll be wrong.

Eh, they wouldn't get him otherwise?
That's interesting, was there nothing else attractive about going to the bulldogs other than a huge amount of money?
