Yeah I say good luck to him.

He probably would have stayed on our offer till BT sweet talked the Dees into offering him that stupid offer.

Oh well worked out well for us with Doedee, and having a second p8ck in next year's draft. Not to mention a better position to get Gibbs in.

I've never understood this, why did BT sweet talk the Dees?
Does he know his old man?
Does he hate Adelaide?
Thanks.

That would depend on the terms - from what I've seen so far, he's not even worth the dollars we offered him to stay, let alone what Melbourne offered him to go.
The way he fit our system last year id have him back. No idea what we offered him though

I never thought his kicking was all that bad when he was playing for us. I mean he's no Tex Walker (who I reckon has an absolutely beautiful long kick on him) or Rory "90%" Laird, but I wouldn't have called it shitty. He was competent. I think the issue it Melbourne is that his confidence is shot - most player's disposal goes down the drain at that point.
im pretty sure i remember his first ever disposal ... it was a successful candy fake followed by a kick under no pressure which went straight to the opposition which lead to a goal.

With how Doedee has started though, I wouldn't have Lever back.

After all we're getting very similar output from Doedee already to what Lever was doing last year. Doedee is also much cheaper.

Melbourne invested significantly in key defender Jake Lever in last year's NAB AFL Trade Period and, so far, it is clear he is not living up to those expectations. The Demons gave up two first-round draft picks (one in last year's draft and one future pick) for Lever, signing him to a four-year deal worth up to $800,000 a season. Lever, 22, has been unable to settle into his new side, struggling to adapt to the Demons' aggressive high press and the way he has handled himself in one-on-one situations. Opposition teams have gone to school on Lever's aggressive defensive style, with the defender averaging just 7.5 intercept possessions per game. Lever's ball use has also been questionable, with the defender admitting recently that his kicking was not at the level required. Lever needs to get back to playing with the confidence he exuded in his final year in Adelaide – backing his judgment to come off his man and kill the contest in the air. The Demons also need to do a better job of maximising Lever's strengths and putting him in a position where his intercept ability can be used more effectively. - Ben Guthrie

Jake Lever is a good player and in the right system he'll thrive. I still think he will find his feet but I am so glad we didn't play overs for a half back flanker.
Really makes you think what were Melbourne thinking paying him that much when you read the story on the AFL website about Tom Mitchell's value?

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-04-19/how-tom-mitchell-became-a-trade-bargain

"It was certainly well below what Hawthorn was prepared to offer. Most industry sources AFL.com.au contacted believed the Hawks' offer was worth at least $600,000 a season, some were confident it was up to $700,000 a season."

Lever certainly does have a good manager!

Bit of both. He knows the family quite well, not long after the move he broadcasted from the Lever home in a nauseating fluff piece on how important family was to poor young Jakey who was stolen away from his by the big bad Crows.

When he said he wanted to be a 10 year player here, that was just the Stockholm syndrome talking.
