Saying that.... I just find it funny how "highly rated" Liam Baker is. you only handed him a 2 year extension on his last deal. Why didnt you give him 3?

maybe he was smart and knew he was worth more but he did get a good salary bump at the time
Richmond would have had a longer deal on the table at the time

You see it doesnt just work like that , " If he wants to come to you"

If they want to come to your club 90% of the time its because a club has sounded them or manager out to make the move

Nah disagree.

A solid player who wants to return home or move club can get his manager to sound it out. It happens all the time.

They don't solely sit around thinking "gee I want to return home but I wont do anything unless approached it".

How do you know we didnt? How do you know we didnt offer him 5 or 7?

Maybe he backed himself in to warrant a bigger pay day in 2 years? Maybe he knew the lure of going home might be stronger in 2 years?

Quite a silly question given the angle you are trying to take here.

Watch out Obeanie1 you've been double-champed, champ.

Double champed..........

Ohhhh ......you are refering to that guy who replied with War and Peace saying Im over reacting as I simply loled at one of his posts.

Your ability to pick and choose points and make shit up makes you a very special kinda champ. Dont ever let anyone tell you anything different.

How do you know we didn't offer him more? I'd be shocked if we didn't.

This contract is going to be worth a hell of a lot more per year than the last one, especially with the cap increase. By only signing for 2 years instead of 3 he's probably going to earn himself an extra 200k for next season.

Heres my view...

Given the choice... why would you be out of contract in your 7th season? Isnt it better to be out of contract on your 8th season as a free agent?

If it was all about the money, He would make himself a free agent and go to the highest bidder.

Again in his last contract renewal he only signed for 2 more seasons. Yep you really rated baker as highly as Prime Dustin Martin and Trent Cotchin. Richmond really rated him highly with a 2 year extension.

Again.... why not renew the contract and be out of contract on your 8th year? That makes him a free agent.

If that was the case and he wanted the money, he could of went to the highest bidder.

Are you thick or what?

I'd say with confidence the 2 year deal was what Baker amd his manager wanted and were willing to sign.

I’m sure we would have wanted to lock Baker away long term. It definitely would have been his management who wanted shorter contract

I’d say perhaps our mistake would have been not letting him sign to free agency (we likely thought we’d be able to get a better trade return then compensation pick as we wouldn’t have expected to be this low on the ladder)

How is that any different to Brayshaw being out of contract this year ?

Nothing...if he was OOC this year. Slight problem: it's next year.
Is he a FA next year?

Regardless, you are desperate if you think the RFC didnt value Baker and only offered him 2 years based on ability.

:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

You really need to let it go.

I loled at your post. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Thats all buddy. A little giggle. Just like you and your buddies here lol at other posts.

Oh my bad, you didnt reply to my comment that wasnt aimed at you?

Oh, weird, you really are the champiest of champs.

RFA afaik.

I didn't say anything about Baker signing 2 years lmao, that's not something I particularly care about. I guess it's unusual for him to not choose to sign to FA (in the sense it would not be the norm), but I don't know the context so I don't have a take. We had a similar thing happen last year with Schultz - the surface level facts made people think we never really wanted him and it was some outrage we were holding out for a good trade price, but if you dug a little deeper you'd find that was a bs narrative.
