May get a better picture? Your kidding right

Surely you are not suggesting, the Crows couldn't find a spot for a Viney, Brayshaw, Crouch type?

You don't draft for the now, a mid takes 2-4 years before you start to benefit

Unless you're a freak like Judd or Martin, it generally takes around 50 games and 2-3 full preseasons before most players find their feet at AFL level.

Higgins, Rioli, Graham all were pretty good from the start. Ditto Dusty like you say.

Its not unusual for first or 2nd year players to have an impact; Jaidyn Stephenson for example was an important part of the team that got to the last hurdle. They dont have to be freaks

Yes it is.

Stephenson was about the only player that had an impact.

Rayner, Dow, Cerra, Brayshaw etc were all good in patches, but they're not there yet.

We often expect too much of 1st, 2nd and even 3rd year draftees. Most of us still havent grown into your body yet at those ages.

Well, again. Higgins was arguable one of the better players in the side the finished top by two games.

Darcy Fogarty genuinely looked like Michael Voss in the Adelaide/Richmond debacle.

Tim Kelly & Liam Ryan probably dont count but they go alright too

Players bursting on the scene as 18-19 year olds are the exception not the rule though. Generally it takes 3-4 years in the system (and a good run with injury) before you're doing more than contributing (at best).

The bloke who averaged 16 touches and less then a goal a game was one of his sides better players?

Turn it up.

Yeah, he was. He was rather brilliant.

Not sure if you can find stats for footy iq and general complimenting his teammates.

Towards the end of the season, when Higgo went in the middle statistically richmond kicked ass - previous their midfield was ranked last PH (Prior Higgins)

Higgins was better than Short. The Richmond b and f are famous for being dodgy to Dimmas hankerings. Richmond are a very strong side, they bat much better than 10. For further info please refer to the fightingfury_88 power ranking thread on the Richmond board.

Not only was Higgins very solid in the regular season, he was in Richmond best in the embarrassing preliminary final. Which says at lot (IMO), and is a massive tick in the box for a first year player. Its easier to look good in a winning team

Which proves the point in this day and age, one doesn't have to be a "freak" to have an impact . The u18s systems have improved to give them a better chance

Lols at the last couple of pages.

Higgins is now one of Richmonds better players? He was ok.

RCD is the next Oliver, I'm sure Balta will soon be the next Pavlich.

Never change you lot.

Oh? You havent heard?

Balta went aroung 25 in the draft but its currently resembling a more athletic Wayne Carey

Kane Lambert. The one that got away eh? One of 3 post national draft picks in the top ten last year. Add Castagna to those three and the late picks have been quite influential in our recent success.

Not only had a very solid debut season in the first placed regular season team; Over the latter half of the season, Higgins was easily one of Richmonds 'better' players especially.

Kamdyn McIntosh is the next Glen Jakovic, Jack Graham is the next Leigh Matthews

Noah Balta might be a bust and never play a game.

However as of now, the Chris Doerre ESPN comments pre draft are looking accurate.

The comments his way are unwarranted by the internet ninjas.

He was high on Liam Stocker, which carlton fans may have missed

Carlton also had 3 post ND selections finish in their top 10. It’s not a massive achievement.

Your success came from Martin, Cotchin, Rance and Riewoldt peaking at the same time. Four first round picks.

Shane Edwards a 2nd rounder, Caddy a first rounder.

Carlton fans are fond of quoting the Richmond best and fairest results on this board. Im surprised you left it out;

2017 Jack Dyer Medal (Premiership)

1st Dustin Martin, 89 votes
2nd Alex Rance, 80 votes
3rd Kane Lambert, 76 votes
4th Trent Cotchin, 73 votes
5th Dylan Grimes, 69 votes

2018 Jack Dyer Medal (minor Premiership)

1st Jack Riewoldt 81
2nd Kane Lambert 68
3rd Dustin Martin 66
4th Shane Edwards 65
5th Dylan Grimes 64

Grimes - No. 2, Pre-Season Draft btw.

Richmond had success on the back of first rounders, late picks, trades

I feel sorry for the attention Stocker will receive and the additional pressure. His first season hasn't started yet and already there is a 39 page thread on bigfooty speculating about whether he was a mistake because he is still building his tank.

I dont think that seems to be the primary reason

Was it his tank that was an issue or his unwillingness to run defensively.

I haven’t seen any issues with his tank in TAC cup or draft camp testing.
