How is there not more concern with this? Beveridge has 100% down played it, with the club going with the ludicrous story of it being a "twisted ankle"

It's as if they don't know that clear vision exists of Tom slowly going down to the ground, and Parish showing a very high level of concern given what he was witnessing happen next to him - he's was clearly shocked at both what happened, and that no medical help was provided after it occured.

To me it's insane that the AFL haven't mandated an independent "fight doctor" who over rules clearly biased club-employed doctors (especially after the Geelong and Port incidents where their doctors also claimed "whoops, must have missed it").

We have guys getting hung out to dry for acts that "might" concuss a guy, but it's radio silence and cover-ups galore when a healthy player suddenly just drops to their knees without any visible injury.

Just to add:

"he finished out the game though" and "the doctors tried to get out to him (for the final 3 minutes).

Absolutely laughable media protection of the people involved in this worrying situation. Not once did the doctors look to leave the bench to check on the welfare of one of their players who had inexplicably slumped to the ground with no external impact or injury (at that moment).

Disgusting.

AFL likely ask for a please explain behind the scenes but watch all parties try to sweep this one under the rug.

Disgusting lack of care from the dogs medical staff. Abysmal on the field… seemingly worse off it.

Their entire football department is not even VFL standard.

Good to see the review they did last year is having an impact…

Agreed mate and can’t understand why the footy media isn’t making a bigger issue of considering the current climate. Maybe more will come out today.

Hopefully the AFL or AFLPA is asking questions. We don’t have all the info but atm it reflects poorly on the Doggies medical staff and coach even.

I hope Libba is ok, he is one tough mofo and gives all to his club.

Libba plays his game on the very edge of what the human body can cope with. He is not a very large indivdual. Barely 6ft and would only weigh in at 85kg but he plays like a CHF. Constantly crashing and bashing, running 15km (hard gut running) and this must take it's toll on the heart. You also throw in the odd drug here and there and it's not a good mix.

Hope Doctor Zimmerman intervenes and Libba gets a full assessment.

It’s interesting for this to happen to a ‘hard man’ - I wonder what element of ‘I’m fine, no worries!’ still plays a part these days. A lot of these guys still wear stuff like this like a badge of honour no doubt and would not be happy being pulled from the game for a delayed concussion.

Bevo could have handled it better but probably appreciated the incident this morning, it will take the immediate attention off himself for at least a day or 2.

Didn’t look good, should be investigated.

huh?
- He was all the commentators could talk about in the last 2 minutes
- Every football show and news bulletin i've heard about the game has mentioned it and discuessed it
- both libba and Bevo were asked about it.

The afl will review it and ask for a please explain for why he didn't do a 20 min concussion test and why it took so long to get him off at the end of the game.

Weren’t the dogs medical stuff under review or something recently ? I know there was something in the media regarding their medical team
They should be. Let's not forget Clay Smith.

We need independent doctors at all games to conduct the concussion testing and Libba should have been rushed off the field as soon as he collapsed.

Absolutely disgraceful lack of care from our medical team. Bevo's post match comments looking completely ignorant at best, malicious at worst.

Hopefully this is investigated and a heavy punishment comes our way, not good enough.
Bevvo has the stink of a dead man walking, or at least stumbling, dazed & confused, to the ground.

If ever a coach had stomped on, crushed & then lost the plot, it’s he…

Horrible to see. Could not believe that he stayed on the ground. Very worrying for his immediate health. Well done to Darcy Parish.

Was it at the end of the game?

Can only assume the doctors didn’t realise what had happened?

If they saw him go down (which they may well not have given it was behind play) or saw the footage and didn’t act that would be very surprising..

You see that once and straight away you think serious heart or head issue.

Time for the AFL to bring in independent game day Doctors as clubs clearly can't be trusted.

That was 100% not an ankle issue

Exactly, club doctors are simply too invested in the club program to be trusted to make decisions in the patients interests (Allir incident)

Netball Australia has independent doctors at games for f*** sake

Beveridge said “He’s fine. For some reason, he lost his footing and stumbled but he’s fine.”
🤨
Elite athletes that move through human congestion at top speed like a cat don’t just “lose their footing” while taking a casual stroll.
Head injury is a cherry picking industry at this point and the proof is in the action of players seeking head high contact in game and clubs explaining away injuries and fighting sanctions for obvious head hunting behaviour (Pickett).
Minimal real concern exists around the issue and maybe that’s fine but they need to stop pretending.
Have players sign a waiver if they wish, let them choose their risk profile and let them play🤷🏼‍♂️

All I've seen was a minute or two segment on Foxfooty with Ralph post game, and maybe a sentence or two in post-match reports on both Foxsports and AFL.com.au. Maybe you watch different shows 🤷‍♂️
