The Brisbane Lions have made two changes ahead of their clash with St Kilda in Melbourne on Saturday.

Bella Smith will make her long awaited debut, replacing Cathy Svarc who is unavailable due to illness.

Smith, who joined the Lions in 2021 from Maroochydore, will play her first AFLW game following a successful comeback from an ACL injury which cut her year short in 2022.

Mikayla Pauga also returns to the side replacing Caitlin Wendlend who has been omitted.

Not wanting to pick on people as I’m sure they’re all very nice, but Heslop and Dunne haven’t set the world on fire this year (stats as per above reference). Not ITK but have heard Bella Smith is going well in reserves (no, not relative or friend). Also think Pauga is good enough to be in the team. I know she’s mid/forward line but surely the team could be rejigged as has been done with others (again, no relative or friend).

Always find it intriguing when another club's supporter seems to know so much about the players on our list.
Definitely gives off 'friend or family member of player on Brisbane list not getting a game' vibes.

Where have you been? Like I said last week, I follow the bombers in the men’s, but live near Springfield…wasn’t wanting them to go down. Was terrific to see how they stepped up last week. Unfortunately what I was talking about played out this week. Two key players out and they lacked the depth to play well.

Where have I been? Going to the games & not wasting my time reading your posts is where I've been sunshine.

After that horrible loss and a big % drop we can finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th.

4. BRISBANE LIONS (6-3, 145.3%)

Round 10 game:
Melbourne at Brighton Homes Arena, Saturday 7:05pm

Win:
Finish 3rd if North Melbourne loses, 4th if North Melbourne wins

Lose: Finish 5th if Geelong wins and catches them on percentage (approx. 8-9 goal gap), 6th if Geelong loses or stays behind on percentage

A shocking loss to the Saints has put last year’s Grand Final hosts in serious danger of missing the top four entirely. It’s as simple as this - win, and they’ll face an away qualifying final, most likely against Adelaide. Lose and they’ll be replaced in the top four by the Essendon vs Gold Coast winner, and they could slide as low as sixth if everything goes wrong. A bit to play for, then!

We lost our best performing forward, arguably our most consistent small forward/mid, best mid end of season. We were missing our best mid and best winger (both of whom are form players). We were never winning that game v Saint Kilda. No other team has depth to cover all that.

looks like that sub par game has left us in the shite ! we carnt keep losing quality players with out fall out ! the baby has come home to rest unfortunately

We’re 4th and are undefeated against top 4 teams this season

If that’s being in the shite then I don’t have any issues with being in the shite

Lose badly against Melbourne and yes we will be in the shite , add some poor results and we will be 7th , that’s pretty shitey

Bradd, it’s BigFooty, there are a lot of flogs here.

If a supporter of another team wanders onto a club board and starts telling home truths about their team then the locals are going to strongly suspect you fall into the flog category.

If you are a little bit more respectful of where you are you will stop rubbing people up the wrong way.
