Jackson is contracted for 2025. Doubt they'd be able to delist then re-rookie, but maybe anything is possible.
Happens all the time, it is why you re-rookie, rather than just waste money on someone not on your list. Clurey is also contracted for 2025.

So I would delist and rookie both, we're already paying for them so I don't reckon we'll waste the soft cap getting rid of them. Keep Clurey as backup and give Jackson 1 more year to see what he can do.

Any reason why any of these potential younger delistees can't be employed by the club, say waterboys, etc, for a bit of cash, play in the ammos and then get selected for the magoos as top up players?
All players delisted by AFL teams automatically fall back to being registered to their original SANFL club. So I don't believe there is any way we can just keep them. ie. James Tsitas was delisted by GC. He automatically becomes a Sturt player again, and if another SANFL club wants him, they need to pay a transfer fee and everything to Sturt.

There might've been a rule change around that recently to allow us to keep them, I seem to recall something, but in the absence of that the above applies.

I'd also like Clurey as a backup (with McKenzie now retired), but keep an eye on Clurey possibly going to West Coast.

Perryman grew up a massive pies fan, I doubt we get him now, and due to Collingwood offer potentially being better.

You are correct. As of a few minutes ago, Port don't expect to get Perryman.

Collingwood coming home faster than Lonhro in the 04 Australia Cup.

Then why doesn’t he nominate his club of choice ?

Seriously if they are offering a longer contract at more $, then let him go there. We're not talking Wayne Carey here.

We can develop a hard-nosed small defender ourselves.

While he would improve the team, and i get you need to pay more to entice a free agent, I'm not overly keen on signing a 6/10 defender on an 8/10 player's wages.

Also he's 25 years old (26 in December). If Collingwood are coming at him with a 7 or 8 year deal, do you really want to carry that for what Jack Dyer would have called a good ordinary footballer?

On the flight over to Sydney last week Sue Rozee was sitting next to one of the Directors partners. She has quite the loud mouth and was ranting on about how Narkle and his partner were stressed out because they didn't know if he would get a contract and that it wasn't fair on the families. Sue then leans two seats over to the Director and says "you're on the Board, put in a good word for Narkle to give him a new deal."

Pretty sure Narkle is a watch and hold right now though.
Imagine being a players mum and thinking your entitled to influence their list management decisions.

This is what we want out of this trade period:

Lukosius (worth a late first/early second round pick)
A first round pick
Perryman (unrestricted free agent)
Cummings (unrestricted free agent)
Richards (worth a late second/early third round pick)
Garcia (worth a third round pick)

This is what we can give (our draft capital):

Houston (worth two firsts)
Soldo (worth a second)
Clurey (worth a third/fourth)
A Late Second Round Pick
A Late Third Round Pick

I won't do hypothetical trades but it would seem we have enough capital to achieve what we want if Houston goes. If he doesn't, we will have to scramble to get Lukosius. The other trades rely on us outbidding other suitors on contract terms then doing a decent deal.

Collingwood want Perryman and want to keep Richards. I suspect if we get Perryman they will up their terms for Richards again to make sure we don't get both.

At least we’re making Collingwood pay through the nose for Perryman!

Houston demand netting is a good return.

Seems like good management on our part
