Font think the Blues can put forward a genuinely intimidating top 8 just yet, so we have to project just a little.

1. Patrick Cripps
2. Charlie Curnow
3. Marc Murphy
4. Jacob Weitering
5. Bryce Gibbs
6. Sam Docherty
7. Ciaran Byrne
8. Caleb Marchbank
9. Sam Petrevski-Seton
10. Harry McKay

Pretty happy with that lot but not quite next year, and yet.

It drops away, but you've got to be happy with 4 of that top 6.

The poster is right, Shane Edwards was rated as elite before the 2016. He might not have produced that elite level as often as other elite players, but still enough to be classified as such.

Depends how low you classify elite. I would have elite as top 10% in the comp for the position..

In current form or at their respective best?

I guess if you did mix of both it would be something like:

1. Todd Goldstein
2. Robbie Tarrant
3. Ben Cunnington
4. Shaun Higgins
5. Jack Ziebell
6. Jarrad Waite
7. Ben Brown
8. Jamie MacMillan

As opposed to many clubs which have many established names in the top 8, the Dees' top eight is quite thin due to half of our best 22 having played 20-30 games. We don't have any legitimate proven superstars outside of Gawny, so I'd say our top 8 is possibly the worst in the competition outside of Carlton, North and Brisbane.
1. Gawn
2. TMac
3. Viney
4. Lewis
5. Nev Jetta
6. Hogan
7. Watts
8. Vince
At the end of 2018 it will be something like this:
1. Hogan
2. Petracca
3. Viney
4. Oliver
5. Gawn
6. TMac
7. Tyson
8. Brayshaw

1. Rance
2. Riewoldt
3. Martin
4. Cotchin
5. Prestia
6. Caddy
7. Edwards
8. Miles

Defy any club to have a better number 4 and a weaker number 8.

Grundy is not a star, he's a promising player.
Grundy was 4th in the Pies BnF in 2016.

After a slow start he was a star post bye, avg 20 touches, 30+ HO per game as he began to dominate games and work over bigger more experienced rucks like Mumford and Jacobs.

Going into 2017 would take only Gawn ahead of Grundy as a ruck.
