Autopsy Loss to Sydney - quite literally no words will adequately sum this up

Best thing about having Wardlaw, Spicer and a few hungry kids is that our tackle pressure today was the best it was since the Richmond game last year. Arguably better today.

They told us at 10, 5 and they warn you at 1 but we took 2 off and replaced them with 2, so we didn't get the 1 warning. The onus is on the club to track it, surely someone can count from 5...
No Taz. The "one left" warning would have occurred on the PREVIOUS interchange, when number 74 was done.

The two that were shown in that clip were number 75 and 76. If North's bench were warned, it would have been before this clip and you'd have expected that the bench would have only allowed one of the two to come off.

Of course, I have NFI if there was a warning with one change to go or if the bench steward made an error by allowing both interchanges to take place at the end as shown in that clip. It did not look like they were aware they couldn't make two changes.

We ****ed up with too many rotations but how were we suppose to keep track of the count while we got bent over all game.
There were so many bad decisions to pick from - Curtis mark in goal square , so many HTB not called. - especially gulden one ,downfield one against George and then 4-5 goals to the swines from the maggots
Warlord is a manic - swans players didn’t know how rapid he was when closing on them
Sheez is an out n out gun
Jy played a real captains game - especially early when we were getting done
Goldy immense
CCJ had good signs
Phillips/Greenwood worked away doing a lot of the dirty work
Scott worked his ass off and even kicked a goal then deep in the BP he spoiled whilst against two
Defence worked well
Also how many high shit bounces can one team cop

It's interesting. The AFL rules dictate that an injury doesn't count to the overall interchange cup number.
Shiels (interchange 76) clearly comes off with cramp. Who makes the call whether that player is ''injured''; and is cramp even an injury, that would then make Liam not subject to the interchange cap.

That probably explains why it happened. Did North class Shiels coming off as an injury so didn't think it was counted in the cap?

Did anyone catch that half time update on fox? The Jurno said the offical wasn’t able to warn the north bench that they reached their limit because interchanged 75 & 76 happened at the same time.

Well that just raises a s**t load more questions. First one being, why didn’t we get warned that we only had one left when 2 guys were at the interchange gate ready to go on?
Correct. The explanation is bulldust and anybody who applies half an ounce of logic would realise that the warning there's only one interchange left would have come when the PREVIOUS interchange was made, not when those two were made.

However, in the future, I would be suggesting that teams never make simultaneous interchanges, just to be safe. 30 seconds apart would be my recommendation.

After settling down and analysing the last 2 mins we didn’t do ourselves any favours in the clutch.

Couple of minutes left and Powell in the back pocket could’ve chipped back to JZ in the square to chew up some clock but kicked down the line instead = turn over and straight back to a cola goal.

Under a minute JZ kicks to Bailey who should’ve gone straight back to JZ to chew more clock but goes long only to see it come straight back in and becomes their match winning goal.

We have forgotten how to win..
Yep. In front of me. Stuck out like dogs balls both of those options.

The person will be feeling horrible. I hope the club wraps its arms around them like it does everyone else who makes a mistake (if it was a mistake).

In other good news. I was very happy that there wasn’t even a murmur of a boo when Buddy got the ball. There was an absolutely unhinged, passionate North supporter just down from me in the standing area on the wing. He didn’t relent with the abuse for the entire game. He reached fever pitch when the Sydney player did his knee and the game was held up. It just goes to show the effect that this horror run can have on us. So sad.

If we hadn't stuffed up our tickets that could have been me.

I cannot divulge the mess up, but after what happened, I know I would have been somewhat anti-social.

But I wouldn't have boo'd Buddy.

Papley... For certain.

Some swans fans on Twitter were suggesting north fans were booing buddy constantly. I never heard any 🤷‍♂️

I've been watching North for the better part of five decades now and I struggle remember players being as good on debut as Sheezel and Wardlaw. And this has happened within the space of 10 weeks.

No disrespect intended to Adrian McAdam or Kent Kingsley but I reckon Harry and George have got what it takes to consistently maintain their levels of excellence for the long term. And, let's face it, being in the same forward line as the Duck when he was getting quintuple teamed certainly made life a lot easier for Adrian and Kent in their first games.

We're a better side without Aidan Corr. Cannot play McKay, Logue and Corr back there.

The reality is when there is a cap of 75 on interchange rotations then you shouldn't be going past 74 rotations because even if there is only 1 minute left in the game you should be keeping 1 interchange rotation in reserve in case a player is partially injured and won't be counted as an 'injured' player in the rotations eg such as Shiels cramping.

So it's no excuse that the 75th and 76th rotation occurred simultaneously like we had with us today - our process should be well drilled and rehearsed and at 74 rotations the coaches box is informed that we are at 74 and there is to be NO MORE rotations from that point unless that player simply can't run anymore. To reinforce the point there should be holding up a sign with '74' on it so the players know there are no more rotations to be had and they need the nod from someone from our club sitting on the bench in order to come off. The sign wold be like the sign they put up for 1 minute left etc.

In this instance Shiels has cramped and come to the interchange area with around 90 seconds left - before just running off he needs to be told/know that we are 74 (by seeing the sign or being yelled at before he comes off). A split second judgement then needs to be made as to whether we use the large rotation on him.

The issue here is (i) why has Will Philips come off to be rotated with 90 seconds left and (ii) he has been allowed to come off with no obvious injury? Phillips needs to know that we are at 74 (by seeing the sign or being yelled at by our interchange steward). It is not Phillip's fault if he doesn't know we are at 74 as he and all players need to know clearly where the number is at. Why weren't the 2 North officials in the area (one lady and one bloke) yelling at Will to stay on?

This was a high intensity game, elite pressure throughout and high use of interchange rotations would be expected.

However we must review what has happened today and ensure that our process is (i) that we don't go above 74 rotations and (ii) that all players know what the number is at by having signs etc placed up.

It has cost us a game today and it's something that we could have avoided with proper processes in place.

I've been wrestling which was the biggest conspiracy by the AFL to get the Colas over the line....

What I witnessed tonight, or the AFL letting Andrew Dunkley (their only real weapon against the King) play in the 96 GF after being suspended for eye gouging Hird in the Prelim? He got to serve his suspension AFTER the GF.

It's a toss up. But it's consistent.

Just shades the free kick against Curtis for outmuscling his opponent in a contest.
Oh, and the downfield free kick paid for bumping a player as he kicked the ball in the last quarter.

Putrid.
