Traded Luke Jackson [Traded with #44 and #67 to Fremantle for #13, F1 and F2]

Wrong again.

A slow midfielder with below average disposal skills really has little value. Just because he plays for GWS and was a high draft pick (seems to be the factor most posters on this site use to determine value) means very little. Richmond is going to be taken to the cleaners this trade period for two ordinary players.

Jackson is the rarest of commodities, an athletic ruck/forward. Melbourne should be demanding three first round draft picks.
I'd take Taranto over Jackson any day of the week, unfortunately Taranto won't come here

Won a B&F at the Giants in his second year, hugely underrated because he plays in Sydney

Peter Bell - “Being a new general manger of football on day three, it would be a feather in my cap if Lachie Neale stayed, so that’s what we’re working towards.”

2018 OUT - Lachie Neale. IN Jesse Hogan & Rory Lobb.
2019 OUT - Ed Langdon & Brad Hill. IN Blake Acres & James Aish.
2020 OUT - Jesse Hogan.
2021 OUT - Adam Cerra. IN Will Brodie & Jordan Clark.

2022 OUT ? - Blake Acres, Darcy Tucker, Griffin Logue, Lloyd Meek, Rory Lobb.

Rory requested a trade last year and yet again, lets see if Rory Lube can slip his way out this time.
Fremantle trade in players who don't stay, at least Jackson would not want out in a couple of years.

Love how you are choosing not to include the players we got in those trades?

I suspect much of the last however many weeks have been Melbourne in Jackson’s ear about supporting his move west, but also that he shouldn’t do the dirty on a club that invested much into his development by forcing a deal with just one club.

Hence him not (publicly) nominating a club of choice.

Maybe Melbourbe truly convinced him either of West Coast or Freo are a good choice for different reasons, and he’s agreed to go to whichever gives Melbourne the best deal. West Coast while down now are the bigger club and can likely provide more opportunity outside of footy.

All speculation, but it fits the facts we know.

The proof is in, West Coast feed their players better.

I tend to agree but West Coast hasn't had a pick this high in more than a decade and it's got some fans salivating; that and the fact many think it's easier to find a serviceable ruck than an elite midfielder later in the draft. I would like to split pick 2 into another high first round pick and later pick, give Melbourne the higher pick and a second rounder for Jackson and take the later first round pick to the draft. That said, it's all irrelevant if Jackson doesn't want to come to West Coast.
I reckon this would be great for WC. Can't see the AFL knocking back the request to split the pick.

Maybe its about the money they would also have to throw at him this early in the rebuild

Did I miss the announcement, maybe I’m Rip Van Winkle and slept through it, but I thought the re-build hadn’t started ?.They were giving it one last hurrah.

As for Jackson, there is a massive opportunity at the Eagles, due to their ruck stocks being threadbare. At the Dockers, he may play more forward.

Don’t want to sell the farm, but as mentioned elsewhere, a lot of high draft picks don’t make it. Jackson has proved he can play.

Only need to ask for 'permission' if they trade the first rounder and are not getting one back.

Trading pick 2 to Melbourne for Jackson would obviously be approved as he's very young.

Apparently freo sold to him a hybrid ruck/mid role in their pitch. That mid aspect may be more exciting to him than pure ruck

You specifically said get another 1st and a second

Very likely he is. The reason for this chatter is while Jackson requested a trade back to WA, he didn't nominate Freo as expected, said either WA club.
He will nominate and West Coast are not out of the equation. Maybe Jackson is waiting on the AFL allowing the Eagles to trade pick 2 or the Eagles splitting the pick.

If the Eagles don’t have the trade assets, it just leaves Fremantle as the only buyer.

Never see a player who just nominated a state.

Rated because he is one of many GWS players who fails to me expectations. So many go backwards.

He is a very good player who looked like he was going to be brilliant.

He’s already nominated, just hasn’t done so publicly.
Wants MFC to get the best deal possibly as he genuinely loves the club and his time there. Horribly homesick.
His mgt is aware that a fair deal can’t be done if he nominated publicly.

Seems to be a lot of people who claim to have the inside scoop on LJ and adamantly saying he will be at freo. Hilarious. Don’t forget Buddy and his shock trade request to Sydney over gws. Clearly trying to get best trade for Melbourne here which is the right thing for him to do. I think wce getting kelly in on big money upset others. Doesn’t always work. As wce supporter I don’t want to give up both first rounders if we split top pick 2 to get him. Would rather go to draft and get Meek.

Apparently should Meek decide to leave Freo he would want to return to his home State, being Victoria.

I dont even think it helps you guys really though. WC flat out arent giving up pick 2, at best, they'd downgrade it and send you like one top 10 pick OR maybe do a future 1st. I dont even think they'd offer more than we will anyway.

With the increased importance of salary cap, I'd be calling WC's bluff if I was Bell. We are getting closer to NBA style list development and and the LAST thing you want to be doing at the start of a rebuild is paying a kid 800k and giving up draft assets for them.
