In the past month or so he's been a confirmed signing for Collingwood, Carlton and Melbourne. He's spreading himself a bit thin.

Melbourne aren't in contention for a premiership in the next three years and Lynchy won't go any longer than that. It seems counterproductive to sign him rather than get games into a youngster like Gawn or Fitzpatrick.

Seems ridiculous for Melbourne to recruit a player of that age.

Yes, because Sydney has proven that experience isn't beneficial for a team.

Yes. You are correct.

Sydney has proven experience is important.

If you think Q Lynch is a good fit for your team, then don't let me put you off

Tarrant Retired
Wasn't it well established that Tarrant was on nothing this season, he just wanted a final Premiership crack?

Wellingham must be off.

Well I have not Heard Tarrant was not playing for much. I say collingwood would left some spare for FA. Wellingham being off does look likely

Must be paying 100% of the cap. Right on.

Is Blair signed?

Blair is Signed. Still have 5 not re-signed IF they are going to
I also doubt he would get offered 350 at the pies, morel like 250ish imo, he would choose the pies for the crack at a flag.

He would choose Melbourne for instance to set himself up after footy.

He would get more fringe benefits off the field if he went to Collingwood. Better business network and the awareness of being associated with the biggest brand in Australian sport.

I seriously doubt any free agents will sign with Melbourne, at least those that are wanted by other clubs.

If, hypothetically, Lynch wants to make a network in business then there is no better club to go to than Melbourne.

I'm also not sure what fringe benefits you're referring to, as all must now come under the salary cap (big restrictions on third party deals ever since the Judd Visy fiasco)

I meant in terms of contract dollars and maybe length.

but we have more than enough business contacts, with respect to other clubs

Kinda like how Mitch Clark didn't sign with us last year because Freo wanted him, you mean?

PS- Geez... that was actually sillier than the "GWS are a superior team" claims by certain Eagles fans earlier on this year.

The Magpies now appear likely to beat Carlton in the race for West Coast forward Quentin Lynch, a free agent who has told the Eagles he wants to leave the club.

Victory for Collingwood would be sweet considering the Blues chased Travis Cloke. It now seems the Pies will have both Cloke and Lynch, who will be able to support Darren Jolly as a back-up ruckman

Reading That makes me sound like its a Done Deal

Next season is not last season. The true state of Melbourne's list has now been revealed. They are need of serious rebuilding and no veteran near the end of their career would willingly enter that situation. I'm not sure why Melbourne would even be interested in Lynch anyway, who has at most 2 years left. Do you think Melbourne will win a premiership in that time?
