Please explain : if Lynch realised he was not able to make a play on the ball as it was going over his head, what was his option in that contest? Don’t say ‘go for the ball’, as he didn’t have a play on the ball, and he’s not a muppet who would pretend to mark a ball going over his head. So in the event he didn’t have a play on the ball, tell me EXACTLY what he should have done in that contest?

If you don’t have a reasonable answer then he will get off. If they decide to make an example of him
It doesn’t matter what they say, they’ll just say whatever they like and he’ll get weeks.

I want the club to appeal it if he gets weeks, and then take it further with a press conference and a media blitz by Gale if the appeal fails. It’s time to stand up and be counted and show we are a club who stands behind our players even when all appears lost…. it’ll galvanise the group as a ‘line in the sand’ moment for the future.

It’ll be even more powerful as he’s obviously out anyway … but his integrity is at stake here.

After I’ve watched the first 4 rounds I promised myself all it was going to take was shit umpiring against us or garbage tribunal that I’m done with the game vlaustin free against in the last quarter was the catalyst and now the Lynch tribunal that I am removing myself from watching afl ever again this game is corrupt and controlling of peoples emotions they don’t take in account of normal football actions but they allow someone in Pickett actually cannonball himself into a player and he gets 2 weeks
Broads action was a football action and he gets 4 this game is unbearable to watch now thanks to the cronies at afl hq

even 90% of the facebook oppos don't want him suspended lol

went searching for salt and barely any deposits found
No one was even calling for it until the media went with it. Lynch might have a reputation with oppos for being a bit of a campaigner, but this one was clearly just an accident.

I question what Keath's intent was. Keath knew, steps back of the impact, that he was not going to be in the marking contest, but bee lined for Lynch anyway.
I contend that Keath sole intention was to contact Lynch to bruise him.

Lynch gets to the tribunal because he jumped and braced. If Lynch continues through on his line, bracing without jumping would be no case.

Correct.

As much as people don't like it, it's the way the game is going. Getting hit when both players are contesting the footy is part and parcel of the game and it's unfortunate if you get hurt. However when one player elects to not contest the footy and given an opponent concussion they will be liable for it and be sanctioned.

You can distinguish the Lynch v Keath incident from the Cameron v Andrews incident in two ways:

1. As you have posted, Cameron applies a forearm to the face at top speed, an incredibly dangerous act that has no legal version. Lynch has effectively side bumped Keath but made some high contact.

2. Andrews was 100% contesting the ball. Keath was no more contesting the ball than Lynch was.

Lynch you can see sets himself to fly for the mark on what was a windy day. He misjudges it as likely did Keath. Lynch has committed to jumping for the mark which is why he leaves the ground. And obviously at the last minute Lynch realises he has misjudged the flight but Keath is going to collide with him so he braces. Lynch has done no more to initiate this contact than Keath has. In fact Keath has made a decision to run into Lynch's path, albeit Keath's eyes were on the ball he would be expected to know contact is highly likely.

wow just got around to watching the hardwick post-match, he basically laughed at the prospect of this being a suspension and then gave a clip to how s**t the broadcasts are at the same time

give us some more of this dimma, love to see it
Made my night that. Google Tom Lynch and hit news. There's a story from channel 9 that will be filled with salt. Something about Dimma being labelled a sore loser

The Age headline,Hardwick defends Lynch in collision to the gutter AFL headline Grumpy Hardwick facing one of his toughest tests.

And the Arrogant Tigers article on the AFL site.

All the people who were bagging the club for allowing Jack to play another year - Put your hand up

You know who you are !!

I was very much for Jack to play on as the 2nd forward as we didnt have a replacement and still don't. It should be remembered though that he was awful in the games Lynch didn't play last year and could no longer play as the number one forward anymore. Things could get quite ugly over the next few months.

Jack has not been our #1 since 2019

Its just that he was so good that he always kicked the goals and made things happen

He will prove to be more than capable to justify his spot again in 2023

Both Lynch and Keath have eyes on the ball in the lead up, Keath takes his eyes off when he realises that he isn't going to get to the fall of the ball and that Lynch and Jones are going to contest it(3rd pic) and begins to brace himself for contact, in the 3rd & 4th pics Lynch isn't even extendind his arms for the marking contest and would know that Keath is there through peripheral vision, which is why he braces for contact.

What you don't show though is Lynch leaving the ground when he is making contact with Keath, which you see from the side on shot on the clip on the AFL site.

I'd love for Lynch to get off but as I said earlier the way the game is adjudicated now around bumping actions, acts like this, whether it's a Tiger doing it or another team will result in suspensions.
You right in this how the AFL is adjudicating it, but I’d say it’s fundamentally wrong. They’re basically saying you’re betting off running head first into someone and possibly hurting yourself, instead of letting your instincts take over and turning your body to protect yourself. Blake Acres was another example last week where I was thinking wtf did the guy do to deserve a week suspension, all he did was attempt to smother and then turned his body so they don’t smash heads.
