Just finished this last night. Between this and The Test, Amazon have put on a couple of awesome Aussie sport docos. Hope it continues or at least something else with a similar concept and access.

A few points for me, most of which seem to be in line with the general consensus;

Hawdwick is a genuine leader. Having an entire list buy into a simple yet extremely strong system for an extended period of time without ever wavering sounds easy enough in theory but is anything but. Enjoyed that their team meetings came across as a genuine open discussion and that anyone could chime in with their thoughts - a vast difference to the 'I'll talk, you'll listen, I'm big, you're small' style of Cameron.

Sloane is an absolute beast. Has been one of my favourite players for a long time and that only increased tenfold. Seeing him actually enjoy getting whacks in games and at training gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Hope he gets the chance to captain his side in finals because he could seriously put 21 blokes on his back and drag them further than most leaders imo. Wasn't sure what to make of Nicks beforehand but now I reckon he gets 'it'.

Dew is a hell of an engager with his players. Not surprising that he's spoken about so fondly by those he's worked with.

Naitanui seems like a nice enough fella in an 'in small doses' kind of way. Simpson was as you'd expect.

I don't dislike Betts whatsoever and sure he gives good bloke vibes but I'm going to stick my neck out and go well and truly against the grain and state that I don't get the love fest.

Cogs wasn't ready to be a club captain. Granted he was only given the job to keep him at the club but he looked completely lost and didn't look to have a hell of a lot of support either which would be tough for a young skipper. Hope he can get it together, even if it means stepping down as captain because he's a hell of a player when he's up and going. Seems like a lovely bloke too.

Watching this you can see how dysfunctional the Giants organisation is. I think they've overachieved given how bad their culture is.

The players do not respect Coniglio in any way. I cringed watching the guy the entire time. I felt sorry for him by the end. He was trying his best but he doesn't have the personality or charisma to lead a locker room. At the same time the players gave him nothing.

Except Heath Shaw what a stand up guy. I have a lot of respect for him after watching him on that show. He backed his captain 100%. Never undermined him in any way. Always enthusiastically supported and encouraged the guy, none of it was patronising it was genuine.

Oh yes it has. Games back to full length games and crowds is a big big difference.
The uncertainty for everyone around what would happen you've clearly forgotten about.
Watching this will be a reminder of just how very different it was.
This season clubs , officials, players, fans etc have a better idea of how to deal with any related things this year so the level of the unknown is just nothing like it was back then. This doco captures that brilliantly in what I watched so far.
Watch it and re-visit all that, if you forgetting how f’ed up it was, as it was unfolding.
As I was saying, the situation hasn't really changed.
