So as a hawks supporter, you'd rather let Everitt go for nothing?

Yes, because he is a selfish player looking for success and if a good deal didnt go through id rather him go to psd and get picked up by ess carl who has no chance of premiership in two years

Buchanan aint worth a pick 6!!! Maybe in another draft!

It doesn't matter how good a players reputation prior to the draft is, they are unproven at the level.

Grab the lists from years past and you will see that many regarded as top picks didn't cut it.

I know this is a super draft, however a player like Buchanan who has the runs on the board and is improving every year is in my opinion makes him worth pick 6.

Proven versus the unproven.

There seems to be a psychology to put these kids straight in to the seniors as well, they in most cases are physically not up to it yet.

Go with what you've got and add, dont trade it away for trades sake.

Hmm let's see. The best interests of the Hawthorn Football Club are to win matches. How would giving a quality ruckman to an already very strong team without suitable compensation be in our best interests?

That's all well and good. But using a 2nd or 3rd round pick to potentially get a 150 plus gamer will do a helluva a lot more for creating sustainable success for the Hawks than getting nothing at all for Spida.

Hahaha Buchanan pick 6? Come on guys, hes a good player but in a draft of this quality he wouldn't make the top 20.

I'd rather put Everitt into the PSD then get some mediocre pick.

Perhaps, but

a) There's no certainty that a 2nd rounder (let alone a 3rd rounder), could play 150 games, don't you think?

b) Letting Spida go into the PSD will send a strong message to our other players that we are willing to play hard ball and accept nothing over being ripped off (i'm not suggesting that's the case this time), by other clubs. Chris Pelchin was at Port when they let Nick Stevens into the draft. When Josh Carr wanted to go to Freo the year after, he made sure that Port was suitably compensated as a result.

no certainties in footy...but then again it is a pretty good draft.
In the last good draft (2001) Sydneys 2nd rounder was Lewis Robert Thompson, Stkildas was Matt Maguire.

I agree Malceski is a player I wouldn't trade, however if the Hawks want one of our best 22 then a deal that could satisfy would be:

everitt + pick 6 for pick 15 + buchanan

No! Amon also stays in Sydney!!!

THought id post it here. They are saying Everitt for Paul Bevan is very likely coming from Sydney.

No one has said ANYTHING about him wanting to go home at all. They are such a close-knit bunch at Sydney and have just been in back-to-back GF's.. i can't see any of them wanting to go home.

It was rumoured that Monty wanted to go home, but that was when he was struggling to find a spot in the senior side. He has cemented a spot, and i don't want Amon to be traded for Everitt. And i agree Nat, they are close-knit bunch and I don't want to see any of our top 22 leave or whatever, especially Amon (for obvious reasons! :D)

Yuh, that must have been a while ago then. He is definately not struggling to cement a permanent spot in our team now. I don't Adam Schneider would be too happy if Amon left!

Bevan can't leave.. he will have to leave his two roommates.. LRT and Auskick.. it can't happen.

Noo! I love those room mates, they match! :p Long blonde hair club :D

AHAHAHA!!! True, Snides would be upset to see his twin move... :( They are so cute together, i mean as mates! ><

:O They sat next to each other? Oh no! I missed it! =.= I only remember ROK sitting with Amon. Omg, thats a hot combination!

off topic... :)

i reckon Spida has secured his spot in Sydney. :'( The 3 co-captains said they like him to play for Sydney. Omg, imagine Spida in a red and white outfit. :thumbsdn:

Yup, who else sat next to eachother? Ohh, Teddy and Tadhg.. that was cute aswell.. hm, Goodes and Lukey! Haha, they're all so cute.

Ew, i can't imagine him wearing red and white.. it would look weird.

i know if i was a swans supporter i would be thinking about the next few years, as you have the opportunity to win a flag.

Sowould you rather be a dominant sidfe like Brisbanes with three flags (possibly 2) in a row, and then really strugle. or have 1 flag but have a stable future (but no guarantee of a flag).

i know which one i would want.

A stable side that can win now, but also build towards the future. Its no mistake that the Swans have made 9 out of the past 11 Finals Series, made 3 Grand Finals and won a Premiership yet rebuilt our squad at least 2 times in the process. You DON'T need to bottom out to rebuild you just need to be smart in how you trade and draft and the Swans have done just that in the past 15 years.
