Manchester United: Where to next?

Arsenal since Arsene a better comparison.
Except it seems like now that the Gunners have at least got a plan and vision in place, United just seem rudderless. Whether it works for Arsenal we may see in May.

Then worst case scenario they have a world class manager at the helm, ignore him, and then watch him leave and diss the club on the way out.
Leaving everyone with no confusion at where the fault lies.

Conte has managed to get ENIC to crowbar open its cheque book and that's a nut as hard to crack as the Glazers.

Yeah certainly though Gary was the one making more sense.
Don't agree with the conclusion Cruyff14 has come to at all.
Yeah if Conte had come to United he would have left 5 minutes later. Not a comment on his ability. The Glazers don't have a cheque book. They didn't even use their own money to buy the club ffs.

Well it’s Murtough who’s given them the power to do so

Rubbish. The three signings as ive said before were influenced by ETH and that’s on Murtough. Just supporters funds a boogey man for their own problems…Glazer and his consultants
In past windows Joel Glazers consultants have had more influence than the recruitment team. That team left. This window they promised signings and proper support structures but have basically left it to ten Hag to do the recruiting, like he hasn't got a big enough job on his hands he now has to select hisnplayers within a restricted budget, hence the wait for De Jong. Ten Hag wanted to get rid of Ronaldo and get a new striker, Glazer said no.

The recruitment needs to be looked at in the big picture. There is no strategy, no real support structure in place for a new manager with a ****ing huge job on his hands. Its a ****ing joke.

Murtough is head and has a team under him, not mysterious external consultants. Rangnick has said he was shocked they had no scout reports on some well known players, Nkunku from Leipzig one of them.

No manager in the world can successfully manage this club. We're unmanageable.

But isn't this precisely the issue.

Poignant that today is 20 years since Ronaldo's first appearance for Sporting. Under Ferguson you identify the best young talent in football at the time and sign him. Identify Rio as one of the best young Englishmen... Rooney. We could go on and on.

But here we are in 2022 and fans are echoing the thoughts of Neville last year that acquiring Conte was not right as the Glazers won't give him the cash. Such a defeatist attitude that's crept in. When fans are no longer demanding and expecting the best as it is futile you'll stop getting the best. Then the slippery slope begins. What's next, start no longer expecting the 2nd best options and the Glazers doing the bare minimum and giving the next option on the totem pole.

As a fanbase you should have been vocally demanding someone like Conte. Let's be real courting FDJ all summer pointlessly is just daft. Should have moved onto someone else a month ago rather than getting whipped by bottom half teams with Fred and McTominay.. Still.

To have owners who don't care is one thing, but it seems like the fans have given up and that's just sad.

You have to be a United fan to get it, but that's exactly how we feel, we feel defeated, the club is done.

Adrien Rabiot is the backup option given to Ten Hag.

What has demanding anything of the Glazers got United fans? Nothing.

Only political pressure or heavy losses can force them out.

Which is what I'm saying.

That's it's just sad that you're so broken that you don't see the point in going for or demanding the best.

Their two most senior people in the scouting department left at the end of last season, with talk being they did so because they were consistently ignored. It is apparently known that Joel Glazer specifically used external sources to inform his decision making, hence the majority of united signings over the last decade looking like they were made by some dude playing FM. Who the **** recruited van de Beek? No one seems to know.

Regardless, here they are right now with a scouting, recruitment and footballing strategy that is an echo of the 90's, after being played off the park by two teams with clearly defined footballing cultures and 'projects', two clubs who have moved with the times despite being a fraction of the size of United. And that falls firmly on the shoulders of the Parasites. 17 years and counting and what we see now is a club in a shambles, still £500 million in debt despite paying £1.7 billion in interest and refinancing cost on a £600 million loan, a rust bucket of a stadium, a second rate training facility and an eye watering wage bill that in no way reflects the quality of the squad.

The club needs to do what City did, what Liverpool did, what so many other clubs have done. As Rangnik said, the place needs open heart surgery and that has to cone from the top. But unfortunately it might actually be too late.

We've known it for years. Fergie was good enough to cover for the Glazers. Nobody else is though.

SAF at least had the class of 92, Rooney, Rio, Vidic, Carrick, Evra, VDS, Ronaldo, Berbatov etc to keep us chugging along winning PL titles and a CL. SAF got out, he saw this coming.

And to be fair, Rooney saw this too back in 2010.

Apparently known?! Glazers doesn’t even make player decisions for the Bucs in a sport they should know better. They have consultants to help them understand what’s presented in regards money, rules, compliance etc but player decisions are left to the experts. No way it’s any different at United.

You clearly know more than all ITK's.

The haul from United's youth program for the SAF dynasty is massively underrated as well - Scholes, Giggs, Beckham, Neville x 2, Butt, Fletcher, Brown - it is insane and was never going to be replicated.

Ten Hag wanted Ronaldo shipped. Joel Glazer said no. Too important commercially.

Perhaps those consultants advise on potential commercial impact of signings, which overeides footballing interestes, hence why Lalor et al bailed? Nonetheless, the rest of my post paints a true picture of utter mediocrity and a failure in planning and strategy. With all that in mind is it that much of a stretch to think Joel Glazer may ask for external opinions on potential signings? The club has been on the slide for 15 years. Van Gaal knew it. Mourinho knew it. Poor Ole did his best, now ETH is pissed at the lack of support, which was promised. The joint is a shambles, its culture sucked as dry as its coffers.

Joel Glazer knows best.
Yeah that's ridiculous. All top clubs have a person who manages the squad so the coach can focus on coaching. I know Bayern has Salihamidžić who does this job. Coach is hung out to dry with lack of support

Why do they not have a sporting director? Other than the coach who manages the team? Who organises transfers?
This year John Murtough effectively replaced Ed Woodward, the banker who oversaw the transfer 'strategy' for the best part of a decade. Murtough is called the football director although he is basically thr Woodward replacement. Matt Judge was the chief negotiator but he resigned in April, so who knows how this is currently being managed. Seems like they are leaving it all to ten Hag to select players with Murtough left to negotiate.

Well pretty easy fix then just look at how any top club is doing it currently and copy them, but the owners seem stubborn to want to do things their own way
