It depends what you look for in moty.

This is the best looking mark since Burton rd 22 2009.

But the degree of difficulty is lower than others this year.

Such as the following for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ16W216FE8&feature=related

1 out specky
or specky over a 200cm+ Ruckman within a pack of 8 + crumbers?

Degree of difficulty? Getting both knees up onto the shoulders of a 198cm player while maintaining balance would be incredibly difficult to do.

This is one of the best I've seen. Moorcroft's hanger v bulldogs. One grab in the dukes and practically in mid air when he took it.

I never liked Moorcroft, or Essendon... but that mark was awesome. What made it extra special was the context, too. He had Etihad absolutely electrified. He'd just kicked a goal - his FIFTH - before half time. They rush the ball down there and he absolutely stands on the bloke's head, takes MOTY and kicks his 6th. That's the power of a single player to utterly capture 40k+ people's attention, plus whoever was watching at home on TV. That's the kind of form you call people over to the telly to watch.

Walker's mark was a bit like that on Saturday night. You SMS your mate and say "have you seen it?".

Long-live the low-percentage, non-team-oriented spectacular plays! :)

One indication of how good a mark it was, is the reaction of opposition supporters. Most times they give a begrudging nod of the head. In this game the fact the Essendon supporters in the background almost leapt as high as Walker suggests this was a pretty special mark. Certainly MOTY.

I prefer High Flying pack marks over 1 vs 1. IMHO.

great no doubt, yet to say it's the best of the year though.

me too, agree with that Magic err, Merkin.
reckon the big pack mark takes a bit of extra bravery and judgement.

taking nothing away from Walker though, superb grab.
not MOTY for mine though ..

I've heard it all now....so he took it on his chest, despite being at 2.5m in the air and everyone is writing it off because he took on the chest. This site comes up with some absolute gems sometimes. Furthermore, I have no doubt that because Walker plays for Carlton most people istantly think other marks are better.

Not most, just Collingwood. :D

I'd be happy to have 10 of these every week, irrespective of which team the player played for.

This is why we love our game.

it is ridiculous, isn't it. Seeing that mark live was incredible, never seen anything like it, personally

So he took the mark about 2.5m in the air? Naitanui could probably do that standing...yet he had a big mark leap and took it overhead.

Walker's was a tremendous mark. Will probably get MOTY. But I don't think it's clear at all.

Not just because Im a Carlton fan, but you'd have to think that riding on one guys shoulders would be much harder than jumping at a whole pack of backs. There's just no room for a slight error in a one on one

But you also don't have x other blokes trying to get in the best position or blocking your positioning.

Just an esitmate mate, could be 3m or 3.5 metres off the ground, who knows, who really cares. He was on the shoulders of a 195 cm defenders and took the mark at chest height.

I've seen the NicNat and Walker's marks live.
Carlton people were high-fiving when NicNat took that pack mark. Incredible. I was certain it was 'Mark of the Year' until Saturday night.
I didn't see Krak's mark live but in my opinion it is running third with Petterd just behind.
By the way, I think the winner only gets the Toyota for a year.

For a similar leap a mark taken in the hands will always trump a chest mark.

Walker's leap was not enough to make his mark better than Naitanui/Krakouer, IMO.

Well fortunately your opinion seems to be confined to the very small group of totally biased posters in the West who are supporting NicNats mark at the expense of reality. Andy Walker says thanks for the car.

I'll get in trouble for saying this, but the more I see it, the less impressed I am. Similar marks are taken regularly, however he definately got an incredible sit, and a heap of height as a result. It may still win MOTY, but it's not even close to the top 10-20 ever I don't reckon.
