Is Matthew Nicks the right coach for Adelaide?

  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

  • Firmly no (he should be sacked)

Oh that’s right, what was that again? Something about kids and values or was that another time?

He said he had no plans to debut Dowling this year or something like that

I'm just worried that any improvement will be brushed off as '' we said Nicks needed help , we got him help and look we were right ''

Actually I think a few here might have that in their script meetings for next year

Yep, we are seriously going down the Ken path without any finals, so we are worse.

When the club identifies they need someone else to be in charge of gameplan, execution, assistants and development, you’d hope they’d acknowledge that Nicks isn’t the man.

But if we don’t make finals next year he has to be gone.

It's funny because it's exactly what we were told Pyke said to junior players that were gunning it up in the 2s. He apparently told them they were going really well, but they're not going to get selected unless multiple injuries intervene. The same people just employ the same people, nothing has changed.

That was when he ruled out playing the likes of Dowling 8-9 weeks into the year because he didn't plan on debuting them over the off-season.
And said those calling for any of our reserves players to come in probably haven't been watching the SANFL games

Thoughts on Stewy Dew coaching again? coaching the Suns when he did was a big ask.... we all know he was sacked cos Dimma was waiting in the wings.
I don't like the idea of Nicks replacement being a untried new coach. Justin leppitch deserves another go and i think he will be better this time around. Would kill for Chris Scott but i think he will coach Tassie.

Dew
Leppitch
Buckley
C Scott
Bevo
L Cameron

who??

Games coached at one club in VFL/AFL history without every making the finals:

Alan Richardson - 126
Stuart Dew - 121
Matty Nicks - 106

Replacing #3 with #2 is just terrible optics.

Don't worry, Nicks will be 2nd by the time he's sacked, so replacing him with 3rd is an upgrade!!

So we cause Dew to drop from 2nd to 3rd so we then appoint Dew so he can become #1...

So if Nicks coaches the entire year and misses finals he'll be the longest serving non-finals coach ever

We bring in someone that knows what they are doing to help Nicks + our soft draw = Making finals = Nicks getting extended = No Flag for us with this rebuild.

I think we're consigned to years of 5th to 10th with maybe the odd isolated spike into the top 4. It's a living certainty that we'll finish between 6th and 10th this year, so the adding of high end talent is over. We'll be back to continuity and experience and doing everything we can to still be in the hunt for the final 8 for as long as we can. And even when that's no longer possible, we will continue with the same strategy because we "want to finish the season strong".

This is sad because it's true.

100% , hes not a finished product but clearly he is capable of 100+ games and that is what makes it worse.

Dowling does well and then you then wonder if Nicks has any idea what he is talking about.

Then he does the same thing with Taylor and Bond.

Maybe he needs to find better words.
Or better judgement
