GWS are a speedy team. Would we not be wise to consider that when selecting the side? None of Smith, Dawson or Parnell are what I'd call speedy. One of Jones or Hamill would help in that category.

Have you seen Parnell play? I think Hamill would be quicker but Parnell is plenty fast.

It's ballsy but I don't mind giving him a go. Show some faith and see what he's made of. It's not hard to switch if he struggles.

From all reports he's a quick learner so I think a bit of exposure could do his early development some good.

Daniels and Bedford are injured

They’re the main speedy forwards

Michaelanny and Parnell can handle Peatling and Stone no sweat

We aren’t too slow at the back for them with that team

Yes, Toby is…… an ‘acquired taste’ and it’ll be interesting to see if Captaincy changes his ways.. but I doubt it, I think he only knows one way..

I'm not quite so sure. In many ways it would not be a twisted experiment as Max has a proven track record of being a very tight and frugal defender who can play on both taller types and smalls. He also has the physical and athletic attributes to run with Greene. In many ways it would be a good and very absorbing matchup. I would love him to really get under Greene's skin with his relentless tight checking and meanness in the sense of not giving anything away.

Agree. MM can go with him in the air & on the ground.

Also, Doedee will likely be needed for the 3rd GWS tall.

Yeah, but in the SEN interview, Max said Ryan gave him some respect and left him alone.. Has Toby ever done that?

Led the team in Intercepts last year (both total and per game).

From the games I’ve seen this preseason doesn’t seem to be the case, he had 4 against West Coast, Butts had 6

Would be handy to have a couple of intercept options... rather than just 1.

I had Hamill ahead of Parnell before preseason... but clearly Parnell is ahead on form.

I have no doubt he will have some contests on him with rotations etc

But there is no sense in giving him the full time match up to start the game

Why would you do it ? It’s a body weight mismatch for start and we aren’t desperate , we have other natural match ups eg Doedee

If we were going to challenge someone I would challenge Smith to step up

But Doedee is the obvious matchup

Looks like that might be Riccardi ( Cadman unlikely to debut in round 1 )

Dawson would play on him for sure , and try and work off him
