This will be the biggest let down in history. Hype will be amazing. The fight a 12 round snooze fest.

Floyd will win all 12 rounds without breaking a sweat. I'll be surprised if Connor lands even one clean punch for the entire fight.

Its like having a netballer play NBA because they both have round balls and a net....crazy
Tend to agree.

I'll be absolutely staggered if Conor gets remotely close.

Those saying Mayweather will want it to be close, why the **** would he do that with a 49-0 record?

Same reason people are saying he might throw it, if he wallops McGregor no rematch and no money. I don't agree with it at all. Floyd maybe a businessman but you don't get to 49-0 without being ruthlessly competitive. When the bell sounds and the gloves get lifted he would go into full fight mode and all the show and business go out the window.

Exactly this. There's not a chance of him throwing it, the lucky campaigner can never run out of money.

Lol. Close thread.

Any Floyd fights I should watch? In particular with tactics we think he'll use against Conor?
Mayweather could win this fight anyway he wanted to, in any fashion and any tactics. As he said himself he has 100's of game plans.

Why do you want to know? Gambling purposes? Don't bother. Mayweather might want to carry him for 12 rounds, he might want to ko him in the first, which is what he could do if he wants. Although even for a bum like Mcgregor in boxing terms he might play it safe for the first at least.

Floyd will just carry him for 12 rounds and rematch will occur for another massive pay day, if that's what he wants. If Mayweather wants to K.O him he'd do it by the 2nd round max.

He won't throw the fight because no way he'd want to **** his legacy and undefeated record. He could just make it interesting and get a rematch anyway without losing.

Mayweather makes world champs look like bums. Canelo won one round, and he was an undefeated world champ at the time.

Many fighters aren't the same once they fight Floyd. The more you fight him, the more you get beat up. Fighters are lucky he counters, scores points and retreats. When PAC tried to open up he got destroyed even more. Injuries hey. Pac's always got an excuse when he loses. Don't hear him day anything when he got lucky vs Marquez a cuppla times.

This is so a remake of the 96 movie 'the great white hype' with Samuel L Jackson, Damon Waynes, Peter Burg, Jeff Goldblum & Jamie Fox.
All except Connor can fight and they dont have to pretend his is really Irish.

For you kids who are too young I suggest you watch it. Great movie

Great pick up.

I saw that movie when I was a kid and for some reason I think about it all the time. Two parts in particular - firstly, when someone is taking a bribe from Samuel L. and asks for power rather than money, sex and drugs; and, secondly, when people tell Waynes to get in shape and he says round is a shape.

Haha the funniest bit I always remember is when they tell the white guy they are going to market him as Irish. He says but I'm not Irish and they tell him it doesn't matter its just so people know you are white

They've got Brendan Schaub and Ariel Helwani doing something at these press conferences. Lol.

Helwani seemed to earnestly ask what a parry was once, and they're having him involved in a boxing bout like this. He also clearly doesn't follow kickboxing at all and thought it was wise to question whether Giorgio Petrosyan was any good after he got knocked out by Andy Ristie. That's like asking whether Jose Aldo or Anderson Silva were actually any good because they got knocked out. Maybe he'll ask if Mayweather is actually a good boxer.

I have to respect what Schaub's done. He's got a following and is making good money and I don't know why anyone cares for his opinion. He was awful on the Bellator PPV. The stuff he's saying about Mayweather/McGregor is hilariously bad.

A few of Schaub's hilarious thoughts:
- McGregor's the A-side.
- McGregor's more athletic.
- McGregor wins rounds.
- McGregor not being a boxer actually helps him in this boxing match. (Karate's the secret weapon to beat boxers in boxing apparently)
- McGregor's faster.
- Lomachenko sparring Dillashaw is important to talk about but McGregor sparring van Heerden isn't real.
- McGregor won't be there to be hit.
- Talks up McGregor's footwork. (Having to run to evade exchanges shows your footwork has huge holes in it)
- Guarantees that this does more PPV buys than Mayweather/Pacquiao. (It might, but guaranteeing it is weird)
- Seems to think it's impossible for Mayweather to knock McGregor out.

A few of Schaub's hilarious thoughts:
- McGregor's the A-side. - Yes
- McGregor's more athletic. - No
- McGregor wins rounds. - Highly unlikely

I don't see how McGregor's the A-side. Mayweather did a million or so PPV buys for 11 fights over 8 years up until a couple of years ago. He had one down fight after the let-down (for a lot of fans at least) of the Pacquiao fight and fought Berto, a fight that nobody had any interest in. McGregor being the A-side is based solely on that one fight. The split on this is going to be in Mayweather's favour. It was a 60-40 split against Pacquiao. Something like that would be the split here.

Guaranteeing the PPV does more than 4.6 million PPV buys? Not sure how you can guarantee that. Mayweather/Pacquiao was a fight years in the making. Everyone was annoyed that it took so long but it made it more financially successful. It was also 2 elite boxers going against each other. Maybe this does more than that, but it's far from a guarantee imo.

That was atrocious.
Are boxing pressers often like that? 1 side talks and then the other?

They even cut Conors Mic and then didn't have mics on them at the end when they were actually going back and forth.

Surely you capitalise on those sound bites, that is what gets people talking. Not one guy talking about his journey and the other chanting with the crowd

Disgraceful.......they left him hangin on the stage to begin with and yeah they turned his microphone off when Floyd started talking.

Can't believe Floyd had the nerve to mention the octagon and 4 ounce gloves (he knows full well they can't do 4 ounce gloves in their fight)

I think you give Conor the points just on the verbals.

And now people (not you Merc) may realize that the whole "OMG LULZ CONNORS SMACK TALK IS GONNA GET IN HIS FACE AND HIS HEAD" is crap.

That was a boxing press conference. This is a boxing event. Connor's UFC smack talk crap isn't going to translate over here.
