Also the Worst had a crack at a very early B22 for the WA teams.

It's not too bad and not far off what i'd expect.
Maybe Bazzo on the EMG or IC.
Chesser is the big unknown on if he is in the IC or WAFL (leaning WAFL to start).

Hall and Ginbey are very close and hall and reid are good mates i'd say its almost certainty

How’s Brad Hardie saying on TAB radio today apparently Simpson had a hissy fit because Naitanui got to hand Reid his jumper on draft night and apparently made a right fuss over it. 😂
Don't believe that's dinkum for even a moment.
Brad probably got a bet that he wouldn't say it on air.

Simmo's had 2 years of hell, has been slaughtered by the media and hardly gave an angry reaction.

But yeah, stands to reason this finally tipped him over the edge..........

Simmo just doesn’t seem like that sort of bloke, I would think he would be stoked to see a past great handover his jumper to an exciting youngster, wonder if old Stick dick will get a sniff of this and quickly write up an article.

Can I just say the Media team so far have done so much better of late.
If it is due to the changing of the guard from King Nissie to The Don who knows.
But we haven't had to pull teeth to get draft footage, we got some memes, Got Jumper numbers and the info on Trew/baker and Dewar.

It's been refreshing. I just hope it lasts.

Sorry all...I tried to resist the temptation to click, but couldn't help myself!

Had to laugh at the pronunciation of Ginbey. If you're going to try and sound smart and analyse a team deeply, at least make it look like you know something about said team, like how to pronounce names...

I don't think the Eagles were ever offered several top selections?

I can't even put into words how much I would love to see Harley live on air ask McClure where he has "made noise that he doesn't want to come to West Coast"

Wild that McClure has met Reid once (after his stupid comments predraft) so doesn't know him at all and yet supposedly knows where he wants to play his football.

More Noise on the Academies in the West.
Glad to see it frankly.

‘Raw end of the deal’: Why WA clubs need next generation academy incentives amid system backlash

West Australian Football Commission talent manager Adam Jones has urged the AFL to reward West Coast and Fremantle for pumping money and resources into their next generation academies.

And Eagles great Peter Sumich, a key player in WA football development pathways, says the AFL’s academy system should be reformed as soon as next season to allow the two WA AFL clubs to match any bid on at least one of their graduates.
Their pleas follow calls by West Coast and Fremantle for change to the system after talented youngsters were snatched from under their noses in this week’s draft as they could not match any bids on them until pick 40.

It is believed the AFL is considering lowering that protection to a top 20 next season. The AFL was contacted but would not comment on whether the system was being reviewed.

“They need to be rewarded for investment into those programs,” Jones said.
“We know that the greater investment is going to bear more fruit. It’s as simple as that.”
Former WA State 18s coach Sumich said in an ideal world the Dockers and Eagles could match any bids for academy players, but the AFL could show it was serious about equalisation by protecting at least one.
“As it is there is no incentive for West Coast or Fremantle to spend the money they do and not get any reward,” Sumich said.
“Give them the right to match at least one bid, to take at least one player from their academy if they are selected by another club inside that top 40.

“It’s pretty rare you would have two players in your academy in that top 40 anyway.
“If you did have two, then you might miss out on one, but at least you get the chance to match a bid on one of them.

“They spend a lot of money on those academies and I’m talking anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million, but where is the incentive when they just lose those players to other clubs?
“With Tasmania coming in that might happen anyway, but it would be a good starting point and it should happen next year.
“Let’s be honest, the AFL wants those northern clubs to be successful because they are pumping so much money into them and it has come at the expense of West Coast and Fremantle, like it always does.
“It’s the AFL but the West Australian clubs still get the raw end of the deal.”
The two WA clubs were unable to match bids on Next Generation Academy products Mitch Edwards (Fremantle) and Lance Collard (West Coast) who were taken by Geelong and St Kilda respectively in this week’s AFL draft.

In contrast, the four clubs from the non-traditional AFL states – Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney and Greater Western Sydney – can match any bids on players from their national academies.
Gold Coast matched bids on academy guns Jed Walter, Ethan Read, Jake Rogers and Will Graham to claim an unprecedented suite of elite talent on the opening round of the draft on Monday.
Jones said it was apparent during this year’s national under-18s championships the Allies were bigger and fitter than the other State squads, and it played out that way when they took out the division one title for the first time.
The Allies are formed from players from New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

“The physical size and running capacity of the Allies kids has improved out of sight,” Jones said.
“It is proving to be a massive advantage because the resources they are able to put into the development of the young men in Queensland and NSW in particular is far greater than what we are able to deliver.
“Their access to AFL club facilities, coaches and full-time resources is far greater.”

Grinds my gears a little that McClure can't just say he got it wrong.
WCE don't want Harley, Harley doesn't want to go there.
Pretty categorical.
Instead goes with WCE have made a mistake.... WTF is that logic
I really hope his source was Harley's uncle, who was feeding him BS because McClure is a smug/dumb campaigner, just to stitch the fooker

If McClure or any other flogbucket wants to make a reasoned argument on why we should have split pick 1 with an analysis of what was actually on offer and which players could reasonably be taken with those picks then I’ll listen

Make a case as to why players x, y and z would’ve been a better result

But he hasn’t done that.

And hasn’t addressed what he actually said which was that West Coast categorically wouldn’t pick Reid

He’s a dickhead

West Coast didn't need to split... they were picking Curtin...come on, giving that clown too much leeway

Seeing it in figures makes my blood boil.
It's like the beneficiary's are getting extra cap or soft cap or whatever as they've not had to spend a cent initially.
The AFL are taking an investment from (in the this case) WC and Freo and giving it to another club.
Probably not well worded but you get my point....AAAAARRRRRKKKKK.... THEY ARE SUCH A BUNCH OF CORRUPT KENTS.

"The change will be about clubs being how clubs in northern states are able to access their academy prospects compared to the other sides.
..
“The system is going to change… I’m here today to say that it’s going to,” he said.

“I believe that they’re gonna switch it back to 20.

“The first 20 will be protected… in this week’s scenario, Lance Collard went to St Kilda at 28.

“That wouldn’t happen, West Coast would get him.

“I think that will happen as soon as next year.”

Fingers crossed. Do we know roughly which pick Champion is touted to go at next year?

is he saying the northern clubs won't be able to match until after 20 or that the rest of us will now be able to match after 20 but the northern clubs will still get total access? as nice as it would be to match after 20 if the northern clubs still get complete access that's just going to result in even more compromised drafts.
