Hope the club just writes him a cheque without much trouble.

Just heard Nesbitt call in on 6PR saying they're now unsacking Simpson coz they can't afford to pay him out of his contract and also settle with Shep.

I also heard someone yell "MONEY FIGHT!" in the background of Nessie's call and what sounded like a bunch of paper swooshing around.

Here it comes. The first drop has just seeped through the dam wall that is about to let go.

There’s a class action involving more than 70 former players already on foot in Victoria.

Right, is that just suing the AFL or individual clubs too?

As far as I can tell, just the AFL. Liam Picken has also brought an action against the AFL, the Bulldogs and two doctors which the AFL was trying to get bundled up into the class action.

Fair enough, surprised Venables hasn't filed yet
I'm not sure if Venables would have much grounds to sue as his concussion was a one off hit and he was supported through rehab for a couple of years before being medically retired. He never played again after that hit so unless there was some form of negligence from the doctors that impacted his recovery, I would think the club and its doctors probably dont have much to worry about there.
Im obviously not a lawyer though so prepared to be corrected on this.

IIRC the medical advise he received through the club was later deemed to be incorrect by a specialist, who said that his ongoing symptoms could have been prevented if treated properly in the first instance

If that specialist opinion is accurate & there was negligence on our medicos part, that's really ****ing disappointing.

From the outside, both Shep and Venables have the right to pursue that action; both have been left with career ending, lifelong disabilities.
The individual players and club must have some health/injury insurance cover as well?
Curious timing from The Worst, coincidence maybe...
(also another example of how our depth was robbed over the last few years)

The timing is just because the writ was filed last week. I think other outlets ran with it first.

Yes to Darling,Sheed to not playing this year
No to Archer Reid.We need to play three tall forwards Snake ,Oallen and Jwilliiams as forward ruck.
It will also be hard to play Maric unless he can play third tall back or wing.We should not play too many tall forwards again
Bwilliams only plays if Flynn is injured
i am not against cripps and jones playing in the wafl for the rest of the year and bring in Dewar and maybe johnston to replace them
I would love to replace rotham and witherden. Bazzo the obvious replacement but weeks away.
Could Maric play that role?maybe move hunt back to replace Withers. and play either Hall or Trew on the Greg Clark wing.
Can't get Burgiel in unless he replaces another younger player or Culley.
I still think there will be some unhappy players who can't get a regular game.
There always are - even in good times lol.

Already settled last year, I believe.

The negligent part was on behalf of the AFL, as they acted upon advice from their concussion 'expert', who was a complete phony that had NFI what he was doing.
