Opinion Melbourne or Bulldogs for the flag?

Still better than teams like Melbourne, North Melbourne (circa 2016 when they were one of the 'favourites' for the flag, Brisbane etc...)
No, it's not.

The only difference is Geelong do it every single year with Chris Scott, whereas those other 3 teams you mentioned crashed & burned once or twice this past decade.

If they gave out a trophy for finishing in the top 4 and f**king things up in September, then the Cats would need to build a new stand to house all their silverware.

Take off your Hawthorn glasses for just a moment and admit Geelong have faired far better in the Scott era than Melbourne have.

Our superiority is undeniable.

Do we not count the elimination final loss in 2018 ??
I guess that's only one set and out
Are you serious ‘straight sets’ as in more then one match, back to back loses.

Well yeah, obviously.

The Dogs looked dodgy in both arcs today once the midfield lost a bit of control for the first time this year. Aside from Naughton, they lack real quality key talks. English a big miss today.

You LMAO'd at Melbourne and said they will "crash and burn like they always do"

It seems completely lost on you that you described Geelong in a nutshell. Even after I point it out to you, you still can't see it... Telling me to "take off my Hawthorn glasses" (as though I'm being biased) and then boasting about Geelong's superiority.

Superiority at what? Raising the fans' expectations with home and away wins? Or for shitting the bed in September?

Tipped the Dogs to win tonight like most, but Richmond showed they're not done with yet. I think the fact Melbourne dominated Richmond with Dusty while the Dogs weren't good enough against a Dustyless Tiges is telling, though not conclusive. Early days but I think Melbourne look a bit more solid and likely.

To describe Geelong's performance in finals in the current age (the last 15-20 years) as 'shitting the bed' is by no means comprehensive and a pretty embarrassing analysis on your part. Losing a final isn't 'shitting the bed' - we certainly didn't shit the bed in September last year when we demolished the premiership favourites on their home deck, or led the premiers at half time. Granted, we have 'shat the bed' in a few selective games, but as a whole, we have set the standard as far as success is concerned across the entire Australian sporting landscape.

Okay, Chris... If that helps you go to sleep at night...

Let's agree that finishing in the top 4 gives a team a good chance of winning the flag. (28 of the last 30 premiers finished in the top 4)
Geelong have finished in the top four in 17 of the past 30 years and won 3 premierships. That's a lot of blown opportunities!

Won 3 Grand Finals
Lost 5 Grand Finals
Lost 7 Preliminary Finals
Lost 2 Qual/Semi Finals (straight sets)

Port Adelaide vs Melbourne grand fin IMO
Port also still has a lot to prove, their only good win was against you guys the others are North (18th) St kilda (16th) Carlton (13th) and Essendon (12th).

But because of the fixture they really shouldn’t finish outside the top 2, so should be a good show for the GF.

Honestly Port only have 3 difficult games away from home all year, they have been given a very fortunate fixture. Also their only difficult double up is the Bulldogs. This coming match in Brisbane is one of the few challenges they have been given, and even then Brisbane is depleted.

They failed the first test so lets see how they go in Brisbane, if they bomb this there might be some questions about their ability to beat quality opposition away from Adelaide. There next chance to prove themselves after this weekend won’t come until the final round, so this is an important match for Port in my opinion.

Look at the draw your team has..

Dusty played a half of football against the Dee's and had something like 6 possessions. Wasn't quite the usual Dusty. IF anything the tiges probably had a week of planning on what to do without him, whereas last week it was unexpected.

Had 6 possessions because he was well tagged

Hardly the end of the world last night. Happy for people to write us off.

In saying that we definitely have the most vulnerable defence if Martin/mids drop off a bit.

30 years?

Pull up the stats for Melbourne.

The Squiggle never lies.

At the moment, the Bulldogs and the Demons are the only teams in the premiership hotspot with Richmond close by. I still reckon the Bulldogs have the right mix (so similar to Hawthorn 2013, five years since a young side pinched a flag from a more fancied opponent, retained the core to build upon, etc) but Melbourne look great as well. I'll go with the flag experience that the Bulldogs are carrying at the moment.
I wouldn’t survive that finals prediction. Mid final quarter cardiac arrest written all over it!

Dogs have the best midfield depth then Port. That puts them both ahead of Melbourne atm.

Our defence is good but we don't want to have to rely on it week in week out.

Tigers at the business end of the season will trouble anyone.

Dogs have best midfield depth?
no Prestia no Lambert no dusty no worries ... we played Ross 20 games Collier Dawkins debut and Naish. Dow back in VFL after operation.
