I've been parked in front of Fox Footy for the last 120 minutes.

It was essentially a yes from Eade, and Roos dodged the question.

GET HIM ON THE PHONE.

I like Eade because I think the attacking way his teams play could bring a lot out of some of our Bailey players.

Particularly Sylvia, Blease, Strauss, Frawley and Watts.

And I think if we can get an A-grade midfield we will have a Premiership quality list.

That may sound strange, but our forward line and backline with a great midfield would stand up excellently IMO.

I agree.

I was going to say "I agree, but I'd hate to see us go back to being defensively inept", but um....

There is no rush ,please MFC do this the right way for a change and find us a coach that will get the lazy pricks that represent us on the field out of the club. To the playing group , are you happy now? , thats 2 coaches you have got fired in less than 3 seasons.

There's really only 5 or 6 options.

Clarkson, Roos, Eade, Williams the front runners.

Matthews, Sheedy the outsiders.

Woosha won't coach after West Coast.

Mark Williams.

Should be able to get him. CAN WIN A FLAG. I see that as most important feature. Yes there a good coaches but not many know what players need to do to win a flag (first hand). He has been there and wont accept any standard lower than what is needed.

Shhhhhhh!!!!

Sorry to butt in but I supported a team rebuilt by Eade and think he's the type of person the Melbourne football club need. He's a master strategist, he demands a style of footy that will make you want to go to the footy and watch and he is a severely underrated man manager and development coach. When he came to our club he turned Brian Lake, Daniel Cross, Matthew Boyd, Ryan Hargrave, Lindsay Gilbee etc etc from guys who were list cloggers who most supporters wanted out of the club into all very good players and superstars who took our club to 3 prelims and were unlucky not to make a Grandfinal. He is an excellent footy person and the best coach my club has had in 50 years...and even more he wants to be your coach

There's no faulting Eades passion, guy would jump at the opportunity. Williams I hear is the same. I must say I'm pretty taken aback by some of the names that have sounded so positive about a position at Melbourne. In my cynicism I would believe that we'd find it nearly impossible to get a good coach with the track record we have.

"Look, I will take a call," Roos said.

"I am happy to talk if they want me to talk now that Neeld has gone.

"I don't have a problem with that. My mindset is it would want to be a significant change ... to where I am at the moment."

It would be a significant change to where he is at the moment and so would the money!

He will be target 1....if he turns us down we try again, if he turns us down again we try again......you get my drift!

It doesn't surprise me at all that big names are looking at us... I still thinkthat coaches want to make a name for themselves... And you would have more chance of making a name for yourself turning a basket case around than you would adopting a star studded list.

That's a subtle shift to his position of a few weeks ago, and it makes things quite interesting. I thought he was no chance of being interested, but he's left the door slightly ajar.

This coaching circus is going to haunt us for the rest of the season. It would have anyway if Neeld had been retained until the end of the season, but his sacking has/will send it into overdrive.

I would say that it would be a distraction for the playing group, and may affect on-field performance. However, given how woeful we have been... pffft.

No more Schwab has changed the equation IMO. 12 months ago we would have been a no go zone for any reputable prospective coach within the industry. Not to say they'll be falling all over each other for the gig but I think it was no secret that Schwab was a significant problem.

From that pov I thank Neeld for at least having a crack.

Schwab was a virus the needed to be cleaned out

They needed to schwab the deck... Get it? Get it? Ok i'l leave now : (

I would seriously recommend a Goodwin-Roos team in a similar mould to that employed by Essendon with Hird-Thompson.

Might be the best way to not only get a premiership coach in to oversee things, but you then have a long term coach in Goodwin who will be a premiership coach. Would also be a good way to get Roos involved if he doesn't have to be the senior coach.

Posted this on the Main board, thoughts on this theory?

Okay. Very interesting storytale here. Tony releases this story a few months ago and then squashed down by Roos on OTC. Tony's dad works with Roos on OTC. Did not go into great depth on the show the day the article came out and was suggested he was not interested but interestingly did not question Mike about the release of the article and where Tony got his source from?

Tonight on Footy Classfied, Garry Lyon suggests Gerard Healy should take up on role of finding the coach for the Melbourne Football Club. Gave him a glowing recommendation. Gerard is good friends with Roosy. Gerard: only three weeks ago said Melbourne have to show improvement in the next 2 weeks or the coach is gone. Maybe a deal already done to get his good mate to Melbourne?

Now article released by Jon Ralph on the Hun website with quotes from Paul Roos

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...stant-neil-craig/story-fni5f91a-1226664862230

"Look, I will take a call," Roos said.

"I am happy to talk if they want me to talk now that Neeld has gone.

"If (Melbourne) did want to have a chat, well we'd see what would happen then," he said.

"The thought of coaching Melbourne doesn't scare me, not the club itself or any other club," he said.

"In some ways it's the great coaching challenge, but you have got to be thinking like a coach to take it on if you are going to do that role."

"I think money is the wrong reason to do it," he said. "Everyone needs money, but you have to have more of a motivation to want to coach."

But he said the "goal-to-goal line of (James) Frawley, (Colin) Garland, (Chris) Dawes and (Mitch) Clark with (Nathan) Jones is solid".

"Their lack of depth and run through the midfield is the most significant problem they need to overcome, but they have some talented players."

If Roos was not interested in coaching at all, would have said 'no'. I don't want to coach ever again and their is no point contacting me because that's my final answer.

Very similar to another OTC panelist in James Hird, who was adamant he wouldn't be coaching Essendon nekk minnut signs with the Bombers.

Roos to Melbourne would be the biggest off-field signing since Norm Smith.
