just renewed and signed up my 1 year old too

the girl who answered the phone said "Good morning Kmart S....... Port Adelaide Football Club"

lol - not the most professional but I have made that same mistake when working 2 jobs so I wont hold it against her

unlike some other peoples experiences on here tho, my call was answered quickly and dealt with on the spot very efficiently

back in black!

Ah, I don't get the club emails.

I no longer get the club sms's after a drunken incident last year after we lost that melbourne game at the MCG - i "replied" to the port adelaide sms in my inbox with my frustrations vented colourfully - and never received an sms again

not real proud of my actions, however understandable they may have been

The membership numbers are looking healthier- a great sign of some enthusiasm amongst the supporter base.

Over the years, I've wondered whether our membership dept. has caused us some harm. I've had several less than professional experiences. The most recent-

I recently signed up our new addition to the family on his sister's Planet Teal renewal form- not because he's going to get any benefit as a 4 week old but because it helps the Club and pi$$es off my wife and her family who are cow supporters.....anyway..

About a week later 2 Planet Teal packages arrive on the doorstep. One addressed to 4 week old son and the another to a child with the same first name as my 4 year old daughter but different surname. Hmmm....4 year old girl goes into meltdown. As it was a Saturday morning, email the club to explain the problem and seek an explanation how two children of the same family on the same membership renewal form can't get the correct packages and how another child not belonging to me can have our home address- confused yet? I was!

The Club's response was swift and the problem corrected and now both kids have their packages but still fail to understand how my daughter, as the existing member, disappeared from the system while my son, as the new member on his sister's renewal form, was fine.

I wonder if that sort of experience would be a turn off if I had been a first time member of the Club?

Lol, I still get the sms's. It was funny though when i recieved a message to pay attention at 12 noon on Wednesday for a big announcement (it was the BiB jumper announcement)

Too bad they sent me the message on the friday after the announcement.

lol - efficient!

I have quite a bit of experience involving social media and sports marketing etc revolving around the best usage of things like facebook, twitter, sms updates, email updates, ad campaigns etc and I swear I could help the club use these mediums to create more "buzz" far better than they currently are....... I would offer my services (free to the club of course no question) however I assume that smarter people than me are making these decisions and running the show down there, so I leave them to do their job

am I wrong for assuming this? I dont want to patronize anyone, however it could be massively improved which in turn would generate more publicity, popularity, discussion etc

Couldn't hurt to send issues and suggestions to the club, to help them tailor a more effective consumer response.

Rob Nelson is Manager, Marketing and Consumer Business

Geoff Dodd is Media & Communications Manager

Port's email protocol is firstinitialsurname@pafc.com.au or just send it to the generic club email address (email@pafc.com.au) and address to the appropriate person in the subject line.

those are great numbers yeah, and the platinums aren't in that count yet I don't think, four from my family coming too (Y)

Mentioned in the Sunday Mail that our membership is now at 17,300 as of 22/1 which is just over 10% up on the 2009 figure for the same time of 15,600.

Since the PAFC started releasing the membership figures we have been averaging an increase of about 1500 members a week. It will be very interesting to see what the automatic renewals figure is come 19/2.

Maybe our new sponsor :)

I've signed up after a couple of years O/S. Sent an email enquiring about Platinum's had. The following week I had a call following up and signed up over the phone there and then. Good service.
