I thought so too :).

I currently have a couple of memberships, but I would think with a couple more I might struggle to find people who could attend.

I would be more than happy to buy a couple of memberships if I knew it was going to a good cause.

I sent the idea to Haysman last week, and he is looking into it now :).

I thought it might be a cool idea, for those of us who want to help the club re memberships to purchase a membership ticket, but have this in some form of 'Port Pool' which gets shared throughout SA Charities each week.

For example, I might buy a 'Charity Membership' each year for $150, this ticket goes into a group of say 50 other Memberships (Purchased by other members) which is allocated each week to a charity (The less fortunate, Mentally or Physically disabled children etc) who are able to attend the game in a big group.

Increases membership, increases attendance, increase our community value and allows our members to feel good about themselves and our club.

Makes more sense than helping the club by buying plenty but not using them all, love your nobility though Portbrilliance.

Either give them to use or even just buy the memberships you need and donote money to the club?

I would think the club would prefer members who were to attend the games over cash.

Members generally will last over several years, and would generally continue giving money over a longer period of time (also paying for food etc at games.)

If it goes to charities aswell, it will have a huge community impact.

23,200 members as of 19/2/10

okay so tiny url gets starred out for some reason but 23,428 at Feb 26. Hopefully we are between the membership drive surge and some winning football hype surge.

Does this possibly show that television advertising is ineffectual?

Im yet to actually see the ad on TV.

Apart from the first time, has anyone else seen it often?

lots of stuff going on/coming up at the moment that people would be spending on or saving up for - festivals, clipsal, etc.

hopefully we have another spike in the fortnight leading up to round one.

So we need another 7k members in four weeks to break 30k. (I'd imagine the small amount of members signing up after RD1 would be negligible.

Does this figure includes any SANFL members? I seem to recall reading somewhere, here perhaps, that they are not included in our membership tally. I would have thought that a Cat 3 SANFL member would be included in our figures.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Why wouldn't SANFL cat 1 and cat 3 members be included? They have been in our total every year since 1997, so why would there be any change? Yes last year when memberships were slow and we went backwards, the SANFL members were included in totals along the way.

It takes a bit of time for the paperwork/electronic records to get transferred between the SANFL and Port and the SANFL have different payment deadlines than Port. And yes it's been acknowledged in the media that SANFL members are not being renewed as quickly as last year.

Port Adelaide people need a swift kick in the backside regarding membership. Don't love your club when they are winning, love your club period.

Come on Port Adelaide people. Really put us "Back in Black".

That was why I asked, I'd always understood that SANFL members where part of our tally but read recently that this wasn't the case. Perhaps what they were talking about was the running tally and that SANFL members are allocated once the final payments are made.

If I remember correctly, we also went backwards from 2007 numbers because of the change in the way we sell memberships. Current figures are more accurate.

I don't understand why it would change. For people buying Port memberships, when the first payment of 3/6/12 monthly instalment is made, it is then the member is counted. That's direct from PAFC membership department. I believe you can now pay SANFL memberships in instalments so I guess the same situation occurs for those memberships, but there is a processing time lag.

Any one who is a SANFL member can they tell me when the full payment is supposed to be made? If there are instalments, how many are there and when can they be paid.

Our memberships went backward in 2009 not because the way we sold memberships, but because of the way we played in 2008!

2007 - 34,073
2008 - 34,185
2009 - 30,605

We have never counted club memberships ( ie no game day rights) in our total, but last year we made the distinction by calling those members who didn't have game day rights, non tickted members and publishing the actual number of these non ticketed members ie 30,605 + approx 2500 non ticketed members.

So the installment memberships are still yet to be counted?

I know like last year, I signed up a few months in (In Feb sometime) but paid in installments, I paid a lump sum of $150 or something similar to start off with, and then continued with the $30 Monthly. So I guess these wouldnt be counted until a certain date aswell.

No, when you made that first lump sum payment, you were counted as a member from that date.

Interesting. Thanks for the info pm. For the 2007 memberships it was in a lump sum in January 2007.

Yes, there is some sort of wall right now.

I imagine classic memberships will soon (during the season) include 3 games again so that numbers are boosted.

But c'mon people get excited and get your friends to get a membership quick-smart! :thumbsu:
