Oh that's awesome! I cbf'ed going to the show (only been twice in 9 years down here) if it's going to cost $70 for the two of us, but free entry is nice - especially since it's probably going to be on the quiet days (I hope).
One of the days is the day of our season opener at ANZ. Catch the Show, then pop over next door for the footy.

GC 7892 as of 22/1
GWS 7263 as of 21/1

GC had a big fan day last Saturday, suspect they pushed membership as well, so they have had a big jump.

EDIT: Oh, 7801 for us now! Where did that come from? That's a very big jump from over the weekend.

Not far behind Gold Coast at all, gotta be happy with that.
What I'm happier about is that we are ahead of the Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers. Even the Parramatta Eels, that club that is suppossed to be the symbol of RL in the Western Suburbs, we are not too far behind. And this is when NRL clubs really push memberships these days.

And all on top of a wooden spoon finish and a likely wooden spoon finish next year... GWS are under the radar with how well they are travelling imo. Sure they aren't an instant success, but compared to the wanderes and RL its amazing. I'm looking forward to 10 years in the future when they are averaging good crowds and doing well on field

It is great to see memberships going so strongly for the Giants, with the NAB cup at Blacktown and the Essendon game in the ACT to come things are looking up to have last years figure beaten by round 1.

I agree. While I think increasing membership to a satisfactory level is a long term proposition, I think on-field success will be sooner than 10 years

We will be competitive/ midtable in the next 2 years. As for when the flag will come, who knows. Being competitive for me is enough at the moment.

Passed 8,000 today, hard to see us not passing the 10,241 from last year by round one.

Just noticed, really impressive showing in the context of our debut year, etc. Considering the Suns membership went down in their second year, if we can exceed last year's in our second year, that is such a huge effort.

I'm still really struggling to come up with a reasonable explaination as to why our membership numbers are so strong at this time of year compared to last year.

I'm with you, I can't understand it either, except maybe the club has connected with those who waivered last season? I'd love to see a break down.

As we will lose most of our games, the crowds won't be coming along.. I would think they'd be doing well to crack 10000 more than a few times

Curious to see the breakdown in Canberra/WS members for this year. I know that having lights at Manuka for night/twilight games was reason enough for a few of my mates to sign up in 2013.

I wasn't a member last year but I joined up this year.

As for game I'll most likely turn up as long as the Canterbury Bulldogs aren't playing. I grew up supporting them so they will always come first (Although I prefer AFL to rugby league nowadays, although I still love both sports)

Does the GWS fixture do a good job of avoiding major clashes with big NRL games? I know the Suns like to avoid clashing with the Titans, but this would be more difficult for the Giants with more than one local NRL team to try and avoid. There seems to be a lot of Saturday afternoon games at Skoda this year, which can only be a good thing for fans of both codes.
