Someone find me a better pic for the thread cover (banner thing) that doesn't have North or Mazda all over it

It can also be a gif – if you can figure out how to download one that loops instead of playing once and stopping

1000x600 or bigger preferred, but doesn't matter that much if it's a bit grainy. Only one section will be visible if it's too tall though (can vertically reposition it to show whichever section)

Make a new thread for him as coach, we don't want his start to be polluted by 190 pages of speculation ;)
I might spin it off later if I can be bothered... atm we would just end up with two parallel threads discussing the same thing, or I have to lock this one which is also a bit tricky if people are replying to stuff that was posted earlier. Also it's much harder to split out a thread while it's being constantly replied to, I'd have to lock it to move stuff around which seems daft when everyone wants to talk about it

Clearly something was up with the timing.

That he has already spoken to the panel explains how the appointment can be made by tomorrow.

I'm not unhappy but I'm not inspired.

The team needs a spine and some standards. Scott is that kind of guy.

I'll confess I love his dumb antics in the box.

Doesn't hurt that he is a SKOB, not at all.
Good appointment but our historical issues with women unlikely to be helped by Brad’s chanting I wish that all the ladies

Congrats on your new coach, Scott amigos! We match now. So cute.

Brad massively over performed with those spuds at North and according to Lethal he was more of a natural born coach than Chris. Excited to see him bring his intelligence, grit, and competitive hunger to your club.

Our Scott has done right by us and then some. I hope your Scott brings you the same joy.

Until our first ever Country Scott Bowl! Bye.

It’s the right appointment based on who we know was in the mix. Yze uninspiring and Hird with too much baggage.

We know he’ll be uncompromising and insist on competitiveness. We haven’t had that under Woosher and Truck. I feel like he can set standards and drive change.

I know it’s banal…..but I can’t wait to see a player cop a spray. It’s been a minute!

Dear Members,

On behalf of the Essendon Football Club Board, I am delighted to write and officially announce to you first, that Brad Scott has been appointed as the senior coach of our men’s AFL team.

This is a significant appointment and another important step forward in the progress of our club.

To reach this appointment, we established a clear and structured coaching recruitment process to ensure we found the right person to take our club forward.

The coaching process was diligent in its approach and detailed in its execution. It begun with a shortlist of over 22 candidates and included a demanding interview process, game style presentations and external personality profiling to ensure we had the full picture of the successful candidate.

The coaching sub-committee met for the final time this afternoon to finalise their recommendation. This recommendation was then fully endorsed by the Board at a meeting this evening.

The group consisting of Robert Walls, Jordan Lewis, Simone McKinnis OAM, Andrew Thorburn, Dorothy Hisgrove and Josh Mahoney (Chair) all worked incredibly hard over the past month to reach their recommendation. I would like to thank each member of this group for their professionalism and commitment to confidentiality throughout this process.

The sub-committee was designed to bring a unique and diverse lens to the coaching process. I have been incredibly impressed with their work and as a Board, we have enormous confidence in the outcome it delivered.

Throughout the process, it was clear the club required a strong leader and Brad’s track record as a player, coach and administrator demonstrated this.

Brad is a two-time premiership player with the Brisbane Lions. He was an assistant coach at Collingwood for three years before becoming the senior coach of the North Melbourne Football Club for 10 seasons. He then transitioned to the GM of Football role at AFL House for the past 3 years. At the age of 46, Brad has an incredible resume, with a diverse range of roles and is the experienced figure the club required.

We believe Brad has all the attributes to be the long-term coach of the Essendon Football Club. He’s a strong leader who will drive standards and establish a winning culture.

We look forward to Brad getting started with us and working closely with the broader club and the football department for what will be an important pre-season.

To our players, staff and members, please join me in welcoming Brad, his wife Penny and his two children Fletcher and Charles into the Essendon family.

This is a clearly a significant day and another positive step forward for the club. We are under no illusions about the hard work ahead of us. By the same token, we are excited about the challenge of building a club that our members are proud of and one that delivers sustained on-field success.

Thank you and go Bombers,

Dave
No Bombershop voucher?

I hate this ****ing club.

AFL is so funny with coaches. Feels like anytime a coach has failed in the past they are damaged goods, but then we have a serious messiah complex for any coach that has won one.

I think it's a good appointment ultimately, but don't expect any immediate success. I'll judge him year 3 and 4 not years 1 and 2.

Ive heard whispers that he will be bringing Cameron Joyce with him. Joyce was the list manager and best friend of Scott during his coaching rain. He's currently the coach of the GC AFLW team but the lure of being Scott's assistant coach is too much to turn down.

I must admit I'm kind of jealous because I thought Joyce was the best list manager in the country before he left North. I'm not sure if that means Doduo will be leaving too or if he's staying until after the draft.

All the best.
That's great news if true, Dodoro gotta Dogogo. Also, I hope Brad Scott doesn't coach rain, I hope it's players.
