Traded Michael Hibberd [traded to Melbourne with pick 59 for picks 29 and 68]

It is actually. You are just as bad as the Melbourne supporting moths with your assumptions. The sticking point was the year of the pick and not a steak knives selection that Essendon will most likely not use.

All I heard from Bombers fans was that pick 26/29 was fair and it would get done.

I agreed.

I was just commenting that I thought that the Dees did well to hold out for more.

Good trade for both clubs. Not saying its unfair but Melbourne fans should be happy, Pig will be a jet for you blokes and is a bargain at 29. Considering the circumstances and the year off Melksham had to have I reckon 25 and 29 for Melksham and Hibberd is about spot on. Works well for both clubs.

Dees did well.

Held out for more than 29 straight swap and got it.

If the Hibberd trade hadn't occurred, Essendon would probably have used pick 59 to get Stewart from GWS. With the trade completed, Essendon will probably use pick 68 to get Stewart. So Melbourne got a little more value - assuming they use pick 59 - and for Essendon it is basically a straight swap. Win-win for both clubs.

Good trade for Melbourne, who have done well this off-season. Effectively #34 according to the points system.

Still there have been some very good players picked at #29 in the past, so the Bombers could still find a good player.

Former #29's
Alex Morgan
Touk Miller
Trent Dumont
Tom Clurey
Alex Foster
Scott Lycett
Jack Gunston
Dayne Beams
Brendan Whitecross
Eric MacKenzie

The supposed 'easiest trade of the whole trade period' takes almost to the final day. Could have had Melbournes #26/27. Well done Dodoro you f***stick

Literally everyone in the negotiations think Dodoro was fine. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

Will be interested to see if they try to package up all their picks from 29 onwards that have points assigned to them and try to move up the draft order by trading them to a club that needs points. Think with picking up Stewart we probably only will need 3 live selections. So if we can move 29 up to a late teens pick that would be a bonus.

Expect this trade to go through late tomorrow when Dodoro finally blinks. It's how he rolls. No need to stress, Melbourne fans. As others have said, Lewis changes the game.

Got what he asked for.

Again.

Good common sense deal.

Both parties had to give a bit.

Was that so hard Essendon?

Not in the slightest.

Weeks before trade period Melbourne were told what the 'price' for Hibberd would be.

Could have done this deal on Monday, 10th October had you paid what you were always going to pay.
