The obsession over this guy is just weird. How is this threads so long? He isn't great but we've had worse players than him on the list before.
The reason McEntee's thread is so long compared to other players of similar ability is because any other player of similar ability we've ever had on our list has been delisted in short order rather than sticking around for 5 seasons and 40+ games.

He won’t play a single AFL game next season. Whoever gave him a 2 year contract extension should be sacked on the spot.
Chris Davies gave to him.

didn't we have Cam Hewett on the list for 4 seasons or so as a rookie listed player that never even looked close to playing a game? Delisted and re-drafted because his rooking list tenure had expired.

DeLuca.
Gorringe.
Minson.
That's about it!

Line ball IMHO.

But remember that all the above were rucks, who take years to develop. And we cut them pretty quickly anyway.
So they potentially could all have ended up better than the Cheese, if they had stayed 🤫

Gorringe? When did he play for us?

There are heaps that were around his level or lower.

Just in the last 10-15 years guys that barely fired a single shot:
  • Scott Harding
  • Jarrad Irons
  • Jay Nash
  • Cameron Cloke
  • Darren Pfeiffer
  • Simon Phillips
  • Nathan Blee
  • Ben Newton
  • Campbell Heath
  • Lewis Stevenson
  • Logan Austin
  • Jesse Palmer
  • Aidyn Johnson
  • Brett Eddy
  • Joe Atley
  • Joel Garner
  • Cameron Sutcliffe
  • Dom Barry
  • Jack Trengove
  • Boyd Woodcock
  • Sam Skinner

and then there are the guys that actually were around a few years and played a few games like McEntee but it would still be hard to argue they were much better than him:
  • Cameron Hitchcock
  • Daniel Stewart
  • Jarrad Redden
  • Brent Renouf
  • Sam Colquhoun
  • Kane Mitchell
  • Jimmy Toumpas
  • Sam Hayes
  • Sam Mayes
  • Jarrod Lienert
  • Martin Frederick

And more recently we've had guys that have come and gone but they were hardly that much better
  • Trent Dumont
  • Brynn Teakle
  • Quinten Narkle
  • Francis Evans

Cam Hitchcock my god, I just almost coughed up my afternoon coffee. Thought I had cleared him from my memory bank

And the vast majority of those guys barely played. And the few who did play a similar amount to McEntee also copped a similar amount of criticism to McEntee.

Can you really not understand why a spud who plays 40+ AFL games might generate more discussion than a spud who gets hidden in the SANFL? That discussion mostly being 'why the **** is this spud getting 40+ AFL games'?

Yeah but the original statement was that their have been worse players than McEntee on the list and i was responding to a post that mentioned only 3 names across our AFL history are worse and one of them didn't even play for us. And yet i managed to list 35 names since around 2010.

I'd take most of them ahead of Jed.

I reckon he plays [emoji[emoji6]]-[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]

With SPP back, then you have ready to go Richards. Yeah he’s done for. Even Berry will get a game before him.

He's not even good at SANFL level.

The guy never played forward it anywhere close to the role he was at AFL when dropped and padded his stats in the midfield and his numbers at that level was still mid.

Doesn't matter because he still got selected for finals though.
