That footage was actually interesting as I reckon he was answering a question rather than asking one...

Exactly, and the question was most likely who to take off to get Stokes into the game.

As analysts have written, it was a gamble and took some height out of the backline. But it worked very well as it tipped the midfield balance well into the cats favour. I think Scott said in his press conference that it wasn't a reflection Brown's game and he did some good things (correct me if I'm wrong here)

Not knowing what we dont know means we dont actually know that we dont know it, which proves the first part correct because we dont know.

Sort of what I was saying about Brown. Nobody really has enough data to know whether he's going to be any good or not, but everybody seems to have made up their minds one way or the other already, and unless he's absolutely brilliant or absolutely atrocious over the next 3-4 weeks (if he gets a run) , nobody is likely to change their minds.
He's one of those players who, for whatever reasons, seems to polarize supporters' opinions.

Its a bit like my argument with my year 10 physics teacher when he tried to explain the "big bang".
Him: Well it started with a super dense ball.
Me: Where did the ball come from?
Him: Well it was formed by millions of particles that came together due to gravity.
Me: Ok, but where did those particles come from?
Him: From even small groups of atoms and gravity again.
Me: Right, but where did THOSE atoms come from?

etc etc

Not knowing what we dont know means we dont actually know that we dont know it, which proves the first part correct because we dont know.
I still say the earth is a chunk of mould in some alien petri dish.
And earth quakes / tsunami's are just because the prick farted.

Are we getting any closer to the Brown solution now?

not enough credit by the media imo, Scott's got a brilliant footy mind, some of his moves over the past 18 months...Taylor to the forward line, Varcoe to the back line, seamless transition of youth while keeping just the right balance on a weekly basis, dropping established players to the VFL to find their form, complete switch in game style (handball-to-kick ratio), consistently turns the drawing board upside down at halftime if the boys are down which indicates alternate gaming plans, even recently he made some strange moves during the NAB, Podsiadly to the backline, track & field athlete into the ruck :)

I’m not expecting him to be either of those two extremes at this point. Just that he carries out the role given him to the satisfaction of the selectors.

From what I’ve seen he is a mobile 6ft 4in player who is a good contested mark, is good below his knees for someone his height, makes good decisions and is a beautiful kick. Quite handy attributes. That’s at VFL level. Whether he can produce the form he’s shown at the higher level we still don’t know. That’s why I’d like him to get a run of games to give him confidence and feel part of the unit. After that point the people who count will know whether he fits our needs or not.

Article about 1st round draft picks, ongoing success and trading.

Interesting that we only get two mentions. Marcus Drum and Mitch Brown

2012 examples: Brendon Goddard
Opportunity/money seekers (moderate success)
2013 possibles: Colin Sylvia, Jack Watts, Mitch Brown (West Coast)

2012 examples: Cale Morton, Jordan Gysberts, Jordan Russell
I really do hope Mitch has a great game, wherever he is played this week.

Said a couple of weeks back this next month is really make or break for him. Two games in a row is a start. Our list is getting healthy, spots for talls is limited. He really needs to put his best game forward and show some versatility and willingness to compete.

This could be his most critical game to date.

Would he be getting games at other AFL clubs?

Make or break for Mitch this week

After the bye plenty of top line players start coming back in. They will also want to get a look at Kersten at some point

Mitch has had ordinary-to-average matches against 2 bottom 8 sides the past few weeks. This week against GWS is his last good chance to stake a claim

Hypothetically speaking, if Harry leaves at the season, does that leave only Rivers and Brown to fill the CHB position? Pods is ageing and so is Rivers. West cant play down back permanently so do we beer bong musashi into Brown over the preseason to bulk him up? I remember when Lonergan was a whipping boy on the scrap heap after numerous failed attempts as a fwd, now look at him.

I'll be bold here and say I think he's gotta find somewhere else to play. I'd love to see him do well in our side however I think he's just going to be one of those guys that kills it in the VFL but cannot replicate in the AFL. Injuries aside I find he 'appears' a bit lazy, he reminds me of Mackie early on both in his work rate and ability to go to the gym....anyways, just my opinion.

Don't think he was ordinary against Port.

Maybe, but like Mackie we've really got no idea about either his work rate or how often he hits the gym. In Mackie's case it worked out very well for us. Took him a lot more than 8 games too.

Not an AFL level footballer, been in the system long enough to be a lot better than his current ability suggests.

Clumsy hands
Average foot skills
No bulk
Piss weak efforts in packs

let him go be a good VFL player or a AFL fringe player at some other club.

Let's call him the Kane Tenace protege then, I've just got a feeling for all the wraps on him it's just not gonna work out...

Bit harsh but it's your opinion and all.
I agree, although have seen no improvement in his last couple of games and really expected him to take those opportunities by the scruff of the neck as he had a solid pre season and his NAB cup form looked promising but there's nothing in him, he's running around with no heart at the minute.

I hope for his sake he does rip GWS apart and finds confidence as Hawkins did because we need a younger Lonergan-type to come along in the next season or two.

One thing that Brown is NOT is a "Lonergan-type". I'm not implying that Brown would need to lose a kidney to be considered that, but Tom was backing into packs and wearing the full brunt of the opposition as early as game 6. If Brown is going to emulate someone it is more likely to be Mackie because he's not strong enough to play on a Travis Cloke or a Josh Kennedy.

This game against Gws is make or break for him. He needs to lift his confidence and keep his head up high and who knows, he could kick 5 goals or have 30 touches.
This game will have no influence on whether or not Brown is a required player at the end of this year,GWS is no yard stick to be making those sort of decisions on.
I thought it was one of the strangest things Scott has done in flagging Mitch as a certainty this week in his post GC match pressor given our tall forward options at present, and a forward is what I see Brown as.
Maybe I'm losing it but these look like wasted games we could be putting into some one with more chance of getting a game come the business end of the year.

It is show casing to a possible bidder
