Pick 20 versus picks 30 + 34 are almost on par so it's essentially a straight swap Clark for 16.

There's a reasonable chance that who the Fremantle Football Club rate at 20 will slide to 30 anyway.

Almost is what may have been alright in the past but not now.
I , as you , would rather take the definite of having Pick 16 & giving off Pick 20 to the lions .....though my first preference is to have it all & get him in the PSD for free !!!

Going back to my thoughts on Clark going into the ND , this is my reasoning on why Bond has covered our backsides by trading our palmer concession pick up to Pick 20 this year.
This way we get to have a good 1st rounder in Pick 16 & either way get him at Pick 20 in the ND or used it to trade to the lions .
Essentially palmer for Clark is something we would all agree is a win for us.

haha how funny are these melbourne fans saying he will get picked up by them in psd if he goes there.
Umm hello u guys threw big money an a 4 yr deal at him an he politely said get stuffed melbourne i dont want to play for u guys.
An u think your club will waste their time getting him in psd????

Good on him for coming out an making that statement makes it much harder for brisbane to get a good deal.
We are holding all the aces right now.
We may be nice an offer pick 20 take it or leave it.
There is no need to even be that generous though now.

And KPR i rate Clark as a ruckman/backup ruck very highly would gladly give up top 20 pick plus player for that.
All reports though say we are getting him to fill a hole in forward line,he will be a key forward.
In that role i dont rate him at all, Bradley,MJ etc are all just as capable as Clark in that role.
If we needed a backup ruck/main ruck i would be saying go for it sell the house to get Clark but we dont need that sort of player.

I hope we end up playing him as ruck/backup ruck as he will be great there an an absolute bargain.
We are not desperate to fill that position though so we shouldnt be offering more than pick 20.
With him being uncontracted an now saying he only wants to play for us well there no reason for us to even give up pick 20 other than to try an be fair.

Brisbane are only playing hardball because they want Tippett, they need as many high picks as possible.
Tippett i would give pick 16 an 20 to adelaide so we get him :) he is a much better forward option than Clark.
Then we pick up Clark in psd an play him as backup ruck :)

Yeh I know, I had a momentary brainfade - I did edit my post for stupidity.

Unfortunately I think it would be even more likely that Melbourne would take Clark through the ND rather than the PSD due to the fact they wouldn't have to agree to any contract stipulations (I'm pretty sure that's true anyway).

But yeh, at least it means a GWS-induced compo pick is out of the equation and its trade with us or get nothing in return.

And they need all the quality picks they can get their hands on.

I just rang my original question through to Damien Barrett & he said that contracts are also stipulated through the ND & besides I mentioned the article , this morning , where Clark said money isn't what it's about so other clubs would leave him be.

This for me has only strengthened the resolve & case for Clark ending up at Freo.

Nice investigating.

And I agree, IMO Melbourne would be stupid to pick a player who has publicly stated more than once he wants to play at Freo and be in WA for family reasons.

At any rate, Brisbane's position has weakened considerably and he should end up at Freo for pick 16 or 20, not both.

Has anyone ever confirmed whether you can stipulate in a contract that you will live in WA regardless of whether you end up at your team of choice (Freo)?

I wish some of you would get through your scones that clubs are NOT going to take a player in the PSD after he has publicly expressed a desire to be at one club, and one club only.

Do you play with the unicorns in your garden, or what??

Cheers for that:thumbsu:

No worries :)

Just for completion's sake (AFL player rules 2011);

36.11 Participation in Pre-Season Draft - 2011
(a) During the course of the 2011 Pre-Season Draft selection meeting, WSFC may include on its Primary List a number of selections at the commencement of the First Round calculated as follows:
A= B – C
Where A = No. of selections at commencement of First Round
B = 16
C = the number of Players listed under Rule 36.7 and the number of Nominated Players selected by WSFC at the 2011 National Draft.
(b) WSFC may not select a Player under Rule 36.11(a) who nominated for the Pre Season Draft under Rule 5.2(a) if that Player was most recently on the List of a Club from which WSFC has:
(i) Listed an uncontracted Player under Rule 36.7; or
(ii) selected a Nominated Player at the 2011 National Draft .
unless such Club agrees to the selection
(c) If WSFC selects a Player pursuant to this Rule 36.11, the Club that most recently Listed the Player shall be entitled to a compensatory selection as determined by the AFL pursuant to Rule 36.7.

I wish Clark would just hold a press conference and announce plain and simply: "If Brisbane and Fremantle don't reach an agreement and I go into the PSD, no-one other than Fremantle should pick me. If they do, I will refuse flat out to play for them."

Unlikely, I know, but still.

PB, ordinarily I'd agree with this, but if the Dees have accidentally let Scwabboly off the leash then .... :eek:

This whole trade has blown up in Brisbanes face. Go Rob Kerr i SAY!... I would like to write this on Birsbanes board.. but i might get another infraction....

What he said.

I've lost count the number of times this has been said but it still gets brought up.

im cool with him doing it daily until the trade is completed for next to nothing or until the pre season draft.....
