PB, ordinarily I'd agree with this, but if the Dees have accidentally let Scwabboly off the leash then ....

bushie here Dorm.:)

Schwab won't pull the trigger on this. Not a chance in hell will they draft an unwilling player who has a history of a bad attitude when things don't go his way.

The Dees don't need that sort of influence right now. No club does.

And if Clark makes a public statement telling all other clubs to back off and not draft him, then that would be tantamount to manipulation and draft tampering and cause him, and maybe us, a world of pain.

His polite thanks, but no thanks, and an expressed desire to come to us is all that he needed to do.

The names Bond... Chris Bond.

Though Clark speaking out via the club's website - gotta be sailing close to the wind re manipulation and all.

Hahaha, nice work Seppo.

At this point i'd just prefer that Clark would nominate for the National Draft and not the PSD. and i'd just take him with 16 or 20. Melb would never take him with 12 nor Bris with 8. And GWS won't go near him because they can't legally make him sign his john hancock on one of their contracts.

Exactly.

Now he and the club have used our official site for the latest announcement: if he did come out and tell everyone else to piss off, there would be a pretty clear cut case of collusion.

The plonkers in AFL House would be all over it, and justifiably so.

So we wait for Kerr to fold and accept Pick 20, or we go the PSD and politely sit and wait whilst giving the death stare to anyone with a pick before us.

Either way we will get him.

Lovely shoop seppo.:D:thumbsu:

Media Release - Clark determined to be a Freo Docker
Mitch Clark has today confirmed his commitment to being a Fremantle Docker in 2012.
Clark has become the subject of a last minute bidding war, with Melbourne vying to trump Fremantle’s longstanding offer for the 23-year-old via the lure of a bigger financial package and by reportedly offering Brisbane pick 12 for him in the NAB AFL National Draft.
“I respect and genuinely appreciate the interest shown by Melbourne but these decisions are not always about the financial side of things,” Clark said.
“I’ve been saying for quite some time now that I want to return home to WA and play for Fremantle. Despite the highly attractive offer Melbourne have put on the table, I remain firmly committed to returning to Perth to be with my family and to signing with Freo.”
A ruckman/forward who has played 82 games for the Lions since making his debut in 2006, Clark said he was hopeful that Brisbane and Fremantle would be able to resolve the situation before the trade period’s 2.00pm (EST) deadline on Monday.
“I’m really grateful for the interest shown by Melbourne and the way they’ve gone about the negotiations but my strong desire is that Brisbane and Fremantle are able to reach an agreement that will allow me to return home to WA,” he said.
“If no agreement can be reached between Brisbane and Fremantle, I’m firmly committed to nominating for the pre-season draft.”

Clark has also advised both Melbourne and Brisbane of his intention to return to Perth and sign with Fremantle.

When is the closing date for nominating for the ND??

I'm probably wrong, but I would have thought that it was already closed.

It would have to be after trade week for guys who were on AFL lists surely, otherwise Ball wouldn't have been in last years.

Plus the final round of delistings haven't been completed yet and those guys need the chance to be able to nominate too.

Good Qestion, no idea. :p

Edit: cheers fellas :)

Also, I don't think he would have been exclusively talking to the Dockers website, it'll probably end up on the AFL website shortly as he no doubt would have been talking to AFL.com representatives and we just linked the story to the Freo website.

Otherwise yeah, it would be blatant tampering.. IMO anyway.

Of course. What was I thinking? Cheers fellas.:thumbsu:

Fair enough. I mistakenly thought that it was a media release from the club.

Ok. Now I am confused. Yes, yes, I know.

But the Clark article from today on OUR website has a tagline at the top and bottom stating "for fremantlefc.com.au"

Does this indicate that the media release was originally put out by the club or not??

Just trying to clarify my clouded mind.:)

Seriously, is Clark worth all this? My gut feeling is just pack him off to Melb FFS and let's move on...

For 1 pick - yep I think he is.

I see the makings of a dominant forward - 80/90 goals from Pav/Clark makes us a top 4 team.

He is a structurally very important player, the size of him and the fact he will be a constant target ......plus we can use 16 or 20 to grab best youngster, will make a serious difference to not only making the finals but pushing on.

One of our main threats is Hawthorn, Clark and Pav in the same 50 ...huge match up issues, just Pav - Gibson.

I'd be curious if trade week went something like this for us -

FFC> 'So what do you want for clark?'
BL> 'First round pick and best 22 player'
FFC> 'ok' *wanders off*

....

Monday 17th Oct

FFC> 'How about pick 20? Take it or leave it'
BL> '...'

All the media speculation in the end has played out - without us showing our hand because really we haven't needed to.
