Wouldn't be surprised if a leadership challenge against John Pesutto was held in the New Year.

I reckon the candidates will come from the following:
LIKELY
-Sam Groth
-Brad Battin
-Josh Frydenberg

LONGSHOTS:
-Matthew Guy
-Peta Credlin
-Jeff Kennett
-Peter Costello

Only three of that list are currently qualified to be the Premier of Victoria. I doubt the Libs would elect someone as leader who is not an elected member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. They might do a Bob Carr and find one of them a casual vacancy in the VLC with later designs to become a lower house MP and future Premier.

Just when Peter Dutton thought he had Anthony Albanese by the throat, the damning findings against Victorian Opposition Leader John Pesutto comes up. No wonder the federal Liberals are furious at their Victorian counterparts-and why the Nationals in Victoria want to break up the Victorian Coalition.

Pesutto is a loser for Dutton. Always has been.
Dump him and get someone with backbone and a real point of difference.

Timing of the judgment is kind. Parliament has finished, Christmas around the corner. New year beckons.

The conundrum will be when Moira asks to be readmitted to the LP. She says she has done nothing wrong. I disagree; she has bagged Pesutto today and aired dirty laundry.

only the liberal party would contemplate removing a leader who is more popular than his opposing leader and on track to win the next election.

deeming is a wrecker. if her foremost interest was the liberal party, she’d take the money and the legal win and stfu. the diarrhea factory shouter and failed political advisor and her fellow cookers would take an electoral loss over a centre-right government imho.

Rubbish, a bag of dog shit would be more popular in the polls next to Allan, Pesutto leading her is nothing special.

Watching the halfwit who'd just lost his case to Deeming and was lambasted by the judge, wouldn't even apologise, he just said he'd have to talk to his lawyers first.

I hope not one cent of Victorian taxpayer's money goes anywhere near this case. If it bankrupts him then that's on him.

The Libs have got two years to do something, get rid of him tomorrow and get cracking, we need something or someone to save us from Allan and her mates.

hard-right reactionaries like you are the ones most likely to wreck the reactionary's chances. this is no nutbag fnq; victoria has been a progressive state for some time.

but i like the idea of you shouty credlin cretins keeping on with this wrecking cos it’s the one thing that might sabotage a likely change of gov’t. keep it up.

This is as much of a response as your post deserves. Victoria is ****ed, I've got 4 years before I can get my hands on my super then I'm back out of here again and this time I won't be back.

Why do you need to stay in Victoria to access your super in 4 yrs time?

Maybe you need to take advice

I don't, but there are age requirements and I'll want some of the money to finance the move. We're not moving until our girls are sorted and standing on their own two feet and I can retire.

Again, I ask: what is your source for the claim that the Nationals want to break up the Victorian Coalition? Last time I asked you were unable to produce a source, and you've made the claim again. So put up or shut up.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. All the very best.

No dramas, I won't even look in the mirror.

I've lived here for 36 years, WA for 10 years, Qld for 3 years and NSW/ ACT for 7 years, current Victoria is worse than any other place we've lived and that includes early 90s Victoria.

Victoria needs a change of government very badly IMO.

In a completely unrelated story, the current opposition have been in front in the polls for the best part of six months, including polls taken while the current Opposition Leader was in the witness stand.

Extremely poor judgment by Pesutto. The incident would have quickly blown over but instead he gave it oxygen by attempting to kick Deeming out of the party and now it looks like he will have step down because he defamed her.
He could have successfully removed her from the party had he been able to resist the temptation to say something dumb...

She was removed from the parliamentary party and she remains outside the parliamentary party. The parliamentary leader has no power to remove someone from the party organisation.

They could have anyone as the opposition leader at the moment and they'd be in front.

As much as we need a new government, if the Libs are still a dog's breakfast come 2 years time, I fear the electorate will get a bit jumpy and vote the incumbents back in again.

They really need a generational change and cast off all the old white noise in the background.

There are still a number of Liberal MPs who were first elected when I was in high school. I am 44 years old.

Also, one MP was born when Ben Chifley was Prime Minister. So yes, new blood is still needed, but there are a few first term MPs who fit the bill (Jess Wilson & Evan Mulholland off the top of my head).

What Victoria needs is accountable government.
That does not necessarily mean a change in one.

As far as the state's finances are concerned, the current government would need to act in complete contradiction to it's proven character to make your statement satisfactory. They're not going to change, so a different government is what is sorely needed.

Will that change of government lead to better change though?
You bring up proven character. We know the proven character of the liberals.
That proven character has lead to negative outcomes. That proven character isn't aligning with the people.

I mean, I disagree with your characterisation of the Liberals, but then you knew that already. Considering the Coalition have been in power in Victoria four out of the last twenty-five years, we have much, much more demonstrated behaviour in government from the ALP to go on.

It's not just when your in government you demonstrate your character
Screaming "African gangs" in an election campaign is demonstrating your character for instance.
