Most disappointing team to round 10

Bit rough nominating Freo, we have barely a midfield at the moment, Mundy is still building as is Barlow. Fyfe and Morabito not playing, they are as bluechip to us as Martin and Cotchin are for Richmond. Imagine Richmond without those 2, + Foley & Delidio underdone and struggling to run out games. That's about where we are at for a midfield. We have no depth.
For me it would be Melbourne & North then daylight, thought those 2 teams would be up and about.
Rough? Well, most people expected us to do better, so Freo have to be disappointing. Would be my no. choice here, too. That there is some reason for it, doesn't make it any better...

Carlton: After starting so well the last month has been a disaster. Next month crucial against good sides.
North: 2012 was norths year to show something, now or never after development years finishing 9th. It's never.
Melbourne: Managed to disappoint me despite my tiny expectations. Last week was great but pathetic effort levels in several games has pissed me off no end.
Freo: Had money on them for top four, thought it was value....whoops.
Gold Coast: Aside from the game against Freo, have shown nothing and haven't improved.

Carlton - looking very mid tier after losing 3 of their last 4 (won against Melb). Injuries seem to have stung them more than they should.
Melbourne - Has taken them over 2 months to recover from that rotten R1 effort vs Brisbane.
GC - losing to GWS stamped it.

Hawthorn - Have played 1.5 bad games out of 10 but that 1.5 was v disappointing, awful. Overall, about right at this stage of the year. Similarly Geelong.

Freo - I wouldn't include as I think they have over performed...seriously, what more do people expect from this side?

If I had to choose one team it would be North.

List has been 'young and developing' for what seems like along time now, coach has been there a few years, and not a lot on injuries and gifted a Top 8 spot thanks to their draw.

Honourable mentions:

- Hawthorn
- Fremantle
- Carlton
- Melbourne

North the daylight. Had them tipped for the 8 this year but the list seems to have no heart at all. Be interesting if they can turn it around in the second half of the season.

Hawks: Have been overtaken by a few teams and inconsistent.

Jury's out:
Melbourne: had little expectations this year, but do want to see them win another 3-4 games.
Carlton: Cruelled by injury and lack of depth exposed, but expect them to do better in the coming months. If they miss the 8 (a huge call) would be a massive disappointment.
GC: Simply need to start winning games (please not against the Tigers again!).

Carlton: Have no excuses for a piss poor first half of a season, just lack intensity, sometimes it looks like they dont even want to play. its sad and pathetic.
North Melbourne: Everyone expect the Kangaroos to play like shit, they're a crappy club always have been, if they want to be lead half arsed then they will play half arsed. I should hope all the players and coaching staff have a good look at themselves and realise just how much of a damn joke Kangaroos have become. The sooner this club crumbles the better.
Melbourne: Well this is expected to, they've had a ruff trott this year, but with the list they have they should have won a few more games, its about time they start to pull their fingers out, just like last week. if not Demons will lose all hope that Melbourne will ever be a force in the AFL again.
Geelong: well there shouldn't be any excuses for a piss poor effect, just like the Blues i find it mostly pathetic that last years premiers have become such a shitful and easybeats team, they should all be embarrassed, i suspect these pussies wont make the 8. Stevie J boasting to a young giant about how many premierships he has played in. the boy should have asked how many games has last years premiers won this year? last year...hmmm... seems like last decade.
Fremantle: These guys are one of the shittest clubs in the AFL right beside Kangroos, i cant understand how such an above average list can suck for damn hard, they cant win a game without Aaron turf toe. Pavlich would have moved to a better club years ago if he wasn't so inconsistent i guess thats why he's a Docker for life. Ross lyon hasn't bought anything to the club, i suspect these w***ers with ankers to finish in the bottom 5 along with Kangroos, Port, Suns and Giants..... Whats the only ship that hasn't docked in Fremantle?

Interesting analysis. o_O

Noticed a few have mentioned Geelong. IMO thought they would start slowly and then build as the season goes on, they haven't disappointed like quite a few other teams.

There have been a few disappointing performances by just about every team - WC v Ess, Coll v Carl, Freo v Haw, GC v StK..

But who has disappointed most often?
North have probably disappointed most frequently, because they have also been excellent in some games and dreadful in others.. And they don't have injuries as an excuse, like..

Carlton. Like North, have had some dominating displays, but have had some big losses too. I mean they lost to Port. Anyone who loses to Port should get a mention on this list. They have had several big omissions tue to injury and their depth has been shown to be shallower than that of the Pies, Eages and Dons who have all had their fair share of key players out. Internal expectations were top 4, so they would be more disappointed in themselves than any other club.

Gold Coast. In hindsight perhaps a lot of people expected the kids would come on quicker than possible. They have improved, but in practically every game have had one quarter where their opposition got a run on and they couldn't stop them.

So St Kilda as well? They lost to Port. Port's worst loss this year has been by 6 goals and it's losses to to 4 of the current top 5 have all been under 5 goals. Port are no world beaters, but they are a far more honest team this year.

Bahahahah depispite everything you say, we are on the same wins and losses as your "All star team"... With bigger outs too...

Obvious candidates:
1. Carlton - Utterly wretched for the past 5 weeks, with no indication that we are improving. No depth, one dimensional game plan and far, far too many outside players. I was on here a couple of weeks back, advising Blues fans not to panic, but after that crap we served up against Port Adelaide - IT'S PANICKING TIME!!!!:eek::eek:
2. Gold Coast - An impressive three wins last year, but stinking up the competition in 2012.The drive and enthusiasm evident in 2011 is gone. One man team who can't run a game out. Almost certain for the spoon.

Middling Performers who I always expected would perform as badly as they have:

3. Fremantle - A team congenitally incapable of getting their act together. The way they dumped Harvey and underhandedly poached Lyon is a testament to the lack of class and professionalism of their management, which is reflected in their on -field performance. Not adjusting at all to Lyon's (miserable, deathly dull) game plan, a (on paper) talented, speedy midfield is being squandered by being ordered to play Rugby Union style tactics, and adopt a cowardly, defensive, possession focused attitude.

4. North - No money = uncompetitiveness. Like it or not, a team increasingly lives and dies by the size of its football department. Its why Collingwood and Carlton only started improving when Eddie and Dick started throwing $$$$$$ at them, its why the best resourced clubs (the Eagles, Swans) tend to be the most consistently well performing. North don't have the money to go past mid table these days. Simple as that.

Jury's Out

5. Melbourne - I didn't expect much - but I expected better than what I saw in the first nine weeks. Utterly adbject on many occasions. However, that win against Essendon showed real heart, and I'm somewhat confident that they can be competitive from this point onwards.

6. Hawthorn - they've had some average games, but as last week's powerhouse performance proved, they've still got flag potential IMO.

7. Geelong - Yes, they've declined - but after more than half a decade at the top, and with an exodus of senior players, this is to be expected.

Don't reckon people should of expected much of Freo, it's a new coach and gameplan, was always going to take awhile to iron out some stuff.

Hawks, well every year since 2008 they have been considered contenders, so you'd expect some caution.

North for mine, are the most disappointing. They told the football world that they wanted to play with the big boys, and haven't come close to realising their coaches rather vocal aspirations.

I can't for the life of me understand why Fremantle supporters are pinning so much hope on Morabito? The kid has played 23 games in his career and has a career high of 18 possessions in one game. He has had a knee reconstruction and is yet to return the AFL, yet so much seems to be placed on his shoulders.
Surely he can't honestly be expected to have the output of Cotchin or Martin?

Melbourne have to be top of the list for most disappointing this year so far, followed by Carlton and North. All were supposed to take a step forward this year and all seem to have taken a giant leap backwards.

He is similar in his style of play to a Martin type. He's not there yet but the potential is.
Check this out. His WAFL highlights from last week. He's nearly ready.

1. North, easily. At the start of the year, I didn't have us making finals due to the fact that disposal was by far the worst in the comp last year. But nor did I expect one pathetic performance after another all year. Apart from the Geelong game, which wasn't as good as looked at the time, I can't think of one decent game this year.

2. Hawthorn. I thought they would be right up there. They haven't been. Giving North the caning of a lifetime counts for nothing this year. We are deadset shit.

3. Melbourne. Not much was expected of them, but more than has actually been shown.

Bahahahah depispite everything you say, we are on the same wins and losses as your "All star team"... With bigger outs too...
Hawthorn didn't win a flag last year. lol come round 15 are you going to use the same excuse when you're just outside the 8? i bet you $50 you wont make the 8.

Top post mate :thumbsu:

I dont entirely agree with the North part about not being able to go past mid-table (maybe showing my bias!), but otherwise spot on and how I view it to round 10 for the clubs mentioned also.

with the age of players on the list, mostly mid range, similar ages to the richmond team. their list isn't below average. they're expected to be a middle of the pack team.

There are weaker/crapper teams below Kangaroos playing a more contested game currently.

Alot of people seem to be nominating Carlton as most dissapointing.

We are 6-4 equal with both the reigning premiers and pre-season favorites, We have a horrible injury list.
I dont know how people can go past Melbourne, They won 8.5 games last year and were expected to improve and push for finals.
Instead they have been one of the worst teams of the modern era.

1.melboune
2.north melbourne
3.sydney swans they have been the worst but their in the eight so i cant put them first

unlucky carlton and geelong ater carlton''arrived'' and geelong as flag chances

You guys always take the weak way out and nominate half the teams. Balls on the line ladies, name 1, and 1 only.

And it's Fremantle. Expectation v performance there is no bigger gap. And if i vindicates getting rid of Ross Lyon's game plan out of the AFL, more power to them. Lyon would be the type of coach that would tell his bowlers to bowl 6 at your head if he could.
