Unfortunately my experience with Essendon supporters was being told to fu** off by a pair of 15 year olds whilst their father giggled and laughed at them. I think he’d downed about 12 bourbons.

My comfort was sitting in the MCC whilst they screamed abuse from within the stands of the great unwashed.

Did he have badly done blonde tips in his hair? Wearing a hypercolour tshirt underneath one of those faux "letterman" college type jackets? Was he wearing elaborately expensive runners with his jeans?

In my experience, the average male Essendon fan takes 1991 Mark Harvey as their style guru and they have the drinking habits of bogan 19 years olds.

My experience with Carlton and St Kilda supporters isn’t exactly great either. WB up there. Best I’ve encountered are North and Hawks supporters by far.

Good point, could probably take it further. Giants fans hate the Dogs because they knocked them out of finals (and vice versa), but Essendon haven't knocked anyone out of finals for decades.

Yeah, St Kilda supporters can be pretty full on.

Carlton supporters haven't been too bad in the last 20 years, but you can already sense them preparing to get up and about in dramatic style if they do actually come good. Then they are right up there.

I hated Carlton and Essendon more in the 90s and early 00s when they were actually good. Didn't mind Hawthorn or Geelong as much in the 90s...then they got good and yeah, not fans. Never really liked Collingwood at any stage.

Maybe it was Collingwood "who needs teeth anyway" nuffs and their general public image.

Maybe it was Richmond "let me tell you about our lord and saviour Jack Graham" flogs getting their jollies in every single thread after 30 years of misery.

Maybe it was Hawthorn "accident of history" bandwagoners and their three-peat.

Maybe it was Essendon "hard to deal with except when buying drugs" cultists and their saga.

Maybe it was even North Melbourne "please acknowledge us, someone, anyone" peasants and their desperate need for a rivalry.


Now imagine how much worse it would be if it was Carlton.

Was thinking about the three peat being an accident of history before, tried to find the thread but it’s been nuked.
