Shannon Hurn gets a bit blown up over in the eagles forum. I think he's good, but sometimes we do lose the plot.

Dale Thomas easily.
Lead clangers at Collingwood in 2007.
19 goals 21.
Kicking style looks a bit epileptic.
The thing that annoys me is when the commentators say he is so skilful. Maybe it's because he bounces the ball every five steps, which according to them makes him spectacular.
Daniel Pratt is over rated?Don't agree about Adam Simpson. Reckon he is extremely overrated- as are his teammates Pratt and Wells. Heath Scotland is underrated.
Adam goodes any one? Gets noticed just because he is tall. only get cheap hand balls out the back and never doesn his own dirty work. dont really rate him that highly, although i admitt i dont get to watch alot of him.
G Ablett is slightly over-rated to in my opinion. Seems to always run backwards before going forwards. Does some flashy things which make him seem a lot better than he is. I think he over performed big time this year and am looking forward to him crashing back down to earth in 2008.
Allow me to be a little controversial.
I'd say that Glenn Archer would be the most overrated player of all time.
An icon of the game - yes.
Shinboner of the century - whatever that means.
But as a player - he was 'just a player'.
I found it horrifying when people were talking about the retirements of Ricciutto, Hird , Kouta, Buckley and Grant and we're putting Archer amongst them as far as being a footballing great.
Its not his fault - but the carry on during his career if he did anything even semi-brave was sickening - whilst other players (even in his own team) do the same things and it is relatively unnoticed.
Plus he got towelled up a stack of times throughout his career whenever coaches looked to exploit him.
oh sh!t - here comes the backlash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know - because there's something about Archer that no one is allowed to criticise him - or everyone cracks it.I agree with most of your points however I would argue that calling him 'just a player' might be going a bit far as he is definately one of the better players of the modern era. It's the same with players like Scott West: The respect people have for the way they go about the game sometimes seems to elevate them above their actual worth to a team.
You're going to get flamed but I can definately see where you are coming from.
Nothing to be jealous of, sure he had one ok season see if he proves the test of time.
Most overrated: Cam Mooney average at best but just got the best delivery from the classy midfielders put me in at full foward for the cats standing at 5''9. would still kick more than him but going from number of posts probably Egan always gets the 3rd best forward with scarlett and harley getting the better forwards
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha [cough cough splutter splutter] ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaAdam goodes any one? paddy Ryder... What has the guy done?
Every essendon supporter rekons he is god
Mate I 100% agree with you.
Archer went from being one of the games most under rated players in the mid 90's to being one of the most over rated footballers I can remember.
He was a very good player. Very hard at the ball. Very courageous, very honest and all the rest of it. However at the end of the day he was just a good footballer.
Not a champion.
Not a superstar.
Not in the same company as Hird, Grant, Buckley, Riccuito.
Allow me to be a little controversial.

Funny u put Grant in there..not biased at all there are ya..whats he done in the past 7 years.. hes way more overrated than archer
Hird was a superstar.
Buckley was a superstar.
Grant was a star
Riccuito was a star
Kouta was a star (and he has been worse than Grant over the last 7 years)
Archer is not quite up to the calibre of those guys.
you don't get it at all
buddy is overrated because some people seem to think he is god, he is nowhere near that right now, just look at his last game.
Front runner, he dragged the pies over the line in the wet against st.kilda. He iced the game against Sydney and in the process gave the swans talented youngster Malceski a bath!Thomas is a front running down hill skier who flashes in and out of games. he does look good at times i'll happily admit, but he's inconsistent.
I guess i cant blame u for not actually watching Carlton play football these days, it seems that Carlton supporters only come on these boards around draft time when they get to talk up the next lot of superstar draft picks they will get!If he improves a bit opposition coaches may think about throwing a tag on him and we'll see how he copes. of course we obviously don't know yet as it hasn't happened.
I doubt there are many defenders that were around in the late 90' that weren't given a bath by Chris Grant. One of my favourite days was seeing Grant towel up Archer, then Martyn, and then McCartney - all before half time. He's given Archer a few baths over the years.
