Lowson for me. Gets about a bit, knows where the goals are and already has an Arden St. carpark permit - so administration work minimised there :) Gives us a different avenue to goal. Imo. Or something. BWWIK??
If we go small forward than yes

But I reckon we go tall forward for msd and target small forwards at years end

Lowson would be a great addition too.

I'd just make the observation that our non-KPF forward line is actually looking pretty decent for 2023.
Zurhaar, Sleevo, Sheezel, Thomas, George, Curtis... And that's without a probable addition of Nick Watson.

We have a lot of medium defenders, but how many do you reckon will still be best 22 next year?

Goater might move to wing, Sheezel forward, Ziebell's not getting any younger, Hall's done.

Young can't even get a game this year, Perez has managed 2 games all season.

I'd be very surprised if we weren't bringing in at least 2 back flankers over the next six months.
HB class and lockdown capacity are long-term problems.

Archer: I have major doubts
Young: Not favoured
Ziebell: Maybe one more year
Bonar: Doubtful
Bergman: Big Tick
L Mac: Average
Shezeel: Forward
Goater: A natural winger
Perez: Injuries have cost him
Drury: Doubtful and already been sent forward

I don't know anything about the boy, and I respect the view of those who have seen him play, but these stats don't scream 'pick me'; obviously different types, but Lowson sits 5th on the goalkicking leader board as a small forward, and we've got a bigger need there than we have for medium defenders. When your VFL coach describes someone as the most dynamic player in the VFL, I hope the list management team are listening

Fair points on Lowson and Teal. A few things to weigh up:

  • Available list spots
  • List needs and whether they are short, medium or long term needs.
  • Likelihood of making it based on afl attributes and previous match day experience. MSD usually more miss than hit.
Given Lowson’s age, I would say short-to-medium needs basis in a list area lacking in experience beyond Zurhaar. Also, a proven performer at vfl level.

I don’t know enough about Teal to make an honest assessment, but definitely more a long term player in an area that has long term list gaps.

I posted this about Lowson in March, I still believe it to be the case:

“He just knows football. I really rate Schultz from Freo and I think he could impact a game just as much as him, if not more.”

It’s amazing how many gaps we have on our list, be very interesting to see which way we go.

Sell me on Teal and Mannagh.

Luke Teal was one of the unluckiest players to not get drafted last year along with Kobe Ryan and Mitch Sybkowski. He is a good athlete, smart, composed and can play across half back and through the midfield. Also had good balance between his offensive and defensive game. He has been solid in Richmond’s VFL outside, despite not being in an AFL system which suggests he has plenty of scope for upside. I could see him being a really damaging winger at AFL level which is why I’d be interested in signing him.

Shaun Mannagh is a 25 year old small forward/Midfielder who is a real pure footballer. Has natural footy smarts, but he is tough as well. Has some flair to his game, has the ability to break lines and is an excellent kick of the footy. Every level he has played he has been a match winner wether it be forward or through the midfield. Reminds of a Kane Lambert type who could be dangerous close to goal, but also push up the ground and be damaging as a link up player through the midfield. His stats and scoreboard impact this year really speaks for itself.

4 goals and 40 touches against good opposition in Southport is darn impressive. Is he a similar type to Lowson but with more accumulation? Who would you prefer out of the two?

Who would I prefer? Mannagh, mainly because of his age. He is two and a half years younger than Lowson. Mannagh is also more of a crumbing/on the run goal kicker whereas Lowson kicks a lot of his goals from lead and mark. Lowson is good on the move and can kick them from anywhere but he plays more like that Jamie Elliott role at the pies.

Mannagh definitely has more ability to accumulate the footy up the field.

None of those forwards is a genuine small forward. Lowson has zip and lateral movement combo the others don't.

Just get me Charlie Pork or whatever his name is

Charlie Pork? Now that's a name that rings a bell! Back in the day, when he was a young prospect making waves in the AFL scene, we were all buzzing with excitement. The sheer talent he displayed as a junior player was something to behold. I remember watching him glide across the field like a gazelle, effortlessly outpacing his opponents and delivering pinpoint accurate kicks. It was as if he had been blessed by the footy gods themselves.

Speaking of blessings, it reminds me of this bizarre incident I witnessed at a footy match. It was a sunny afternoon, and the stadium was packed with eager fans, eagerly awaiting the clash between two rival teams. The atmosphere was electric, with chants and cheers filling the air. Just as the match was about to begin, a seagull swooped down from the sky and snatched a hot dog right out of a spectator's hand. The crowd erupted into laughter and applause, as if the seagull had executed the perfect steal in its own version of footy.

Now, I know it may sound silly, but that seagull's audacious act somehow reminded me of young Charlie Pork's tenacity on the field. He would pounce on loose balls and snatch them away from his opponents with the same finesse and determination. It's incredible how even the most unexpected moments can bring back memories of our favorite footy stars.

So, here's to Charlie Pork and his extraordinary skills as a junior player. May his journey in the AFL be filled with triumphs and unforgettable moments that continue to amaze us all.

Those tackle numbers are solid.

If this club goes down this path whoever they pick give them 1 maybe 2 weeks in VFL then straight into the AFL also don’t draft blokes that are injured or built like a rake as this club has form on doing that and 1 more thing keep whoever this club picks away from brown and Rawlings

If we pick Lowson it's straight into the ones.

Lowson might be 27 and who knows whether his performances in the VFL will translate, but I suspect given his path to this point that he’ll leave no stone unturned if he gets selected.

Given where we find ourselves that holds a fair bit of weight.
I would love a similar outcome for Lowson as this.....
