But also, without knowing exactly what happened, if it was about poor taste costumes, do we think a nerdy white lawyer is going to punish a black player for dressing as a black person?

I'm guessing it was particularly offensive if proper h&a game bans are on the table and we're a good 5 months out from the season starting (ample time for this story to wither and die)

Can't really blame the media if the AFL is wanting to hand out 2 game bans. It sounds like the AFLs standard PR/lip service first approach.

That's because of the 'go woke go broke' brigade invoking the very cancel culture that they accuse the 'woke' of doing. Normal people saw it as an amusing campaign but the 'good old boys' all got triggered. The hypocrisy is strong with those ones.

As a skin cancer survivor, my big issue is the players running around doing their pre-seasons with no hats and no obvious sunscreen. This sends a terrible message to the children !!

No, I wouldn't say that's the 'market at work'. The markets are producers and consumers. Historically speaking the free market responded to consumer demand. In the post 2000's, DEI executives and advertising execs educated in far left universities began to tell everyone that "this won't sell", "this isn't acceptable", and despite there being zero evidence in support of that group think rose and those concepts were accepted as fact. It's the same reason that modern day advertising is no longer sexualised. Because left wing academics said it was problematic and "culture" execs banned it. That is despite the fact that sex does in fact sell, as seen by platforms like Instagram where the substantial majority of the largest creators are sexualised. Now i'm not saying I need Cougar Bourbon ads back on my screen, but I certainly haven't had a Cougar Bourbon product since I was 18 years old.
Fair enough, I must admit i missed the 's' on the end and assumed it referred to the first film in the franchise given it is obvious that the lead in Aliens would be the lead from Alien. And Alien.. is where Ripley established herself as the traditional heroine role, albeit ultimately subverted.

That's fine. So the only sane response would be to galvanise everyone who thinks that way to make videos of them being so outraged that they shoot their beer with automatic rifles or drive over a can with a suburban tank. At least they are not triggered or anything.
