Don't know what to think of Ambrose, shouldn't be having to contest ruck contests but don't think he gets enough of the ball and certainly not in dangerous positions, was a tackling machine though tonight with 10

Reckon he'll be competing with Howlett this year as a defensive mid/half forward. Offers us more.

Edwards: Glimpses of what could come. Still not the complete package, but I'm getting excited over this kid.
Needs to play with much more intensity if he wants to crack the seniors. There was a single play that summed it up for me, 2:00-1:45 at the end of the first quarter, when he was in a position to lay three tackles but sat off the pack waiting for someone else to do the hard work, and the Demons ran way with the ball.

Was really proud of the boys last night a little up yours to rest of the comp :D.

Paul Roos didn't look like a happy camper at the end of the game and who can blame him haha. Also saw a girl wearing a Carlton jumper who was barracking for Melbourne like it's her own team wtf talking about hating a football side lolz.

Was really impressed with Cooney, looked to have a lot of zip and class. Will look a lot better feeding off clean clearances from jobe, Myers etc

When watching Cooney I've been trying to think ahead to when we have him playing in the same side as Heppel, Jobe and Stants, his class will make that a pretty solid mid-field group, plus having Chappy and Goddard, this is starting to look like a serious good football team midfield

Agree

David King has been the only media expert who likes Essendon's prospects.

Poupolo has a fair rig

Interesting that the top up players are leading the players from the field.

What's the go next weekend? Rest or do we have an Intra club match or are we teeing up a match against another AFL club?

I'd like the infracted players to have a match simulation game next week.

Ah - My player ratings are considerably different to Eth Dog's

- Chapman; Very good today. i was surprised at his intensity.
- Goddard; Good playing in an unfamiliar role.
- J.Daniher; Solid performance.
- Fantasia; An impressive performance. have high hopes.
- Edwards; Struggled - Can't win the ball in midfield.
- Laverde; Showed some positive signs. Like him more than Langford.
- Langford; Displaying good signs - Think Laverde will play more AFL in 2015.
- Hams; Struggled with the pace of the game.
- Kavanagh; A decent game - His best performance in the NAB challenge.
- Baguley; An average game.
- Zaharakis; Solid game.
- Giles; Disappointing game tonight.
- McKernan; A solid game.
- Brown; Good again.
- C.Jones; An average game.
- Ashby; A good game again. Find of the NAB challenge.
- Gleeson; A dominant performance.
- Dalgleish; Good game. Second find of the NAB Challenge.
- Ambrose; Struggled. Disappointing NAB Challenge.
- Marigliani; Did well from limited opportunities.
- Cooney; Average performance.
- Gwilt; Another solid performance.
- J.Merritt; An uninspiring performance.

**** Carlton

If Ambrose and Gleeson are borderline 22, how are Giles and Merrett not?

I just think these guys offer more, and would be prepared to bet a fair bit they are more likely to start round 1. Don't forget Ambrose played 16 games last season and is important to our structure, whilst Gleeson is pure silk. J.Merrett a bit hit and miss and has had his injury concerns, and Giles hasn't done enough so far in my book to be considered for round 1 with T.Bell by far the preferred option.

so here's a question. Has Jack Viney peaked?

Is there another gear he can go to or is he just going to be Daniel Cross? Not that I don't like Daniel Cross or anything, but to me he just looks like he's very close to what the finished product will be already at the age of what, 19?

Not sure if he has peaked but you would have to worried about his kicking and decision making...and I'm not just talking about that last kick either.

So let me get this straight...they didn't draft his best mate Wines because he was too similar, so went for Toumpas...who has shown even less than Viney!!!....ouch!

Anyway Gleeson looks class to me. Ashby will be a player, and liked Kav's game. Thought Kav was unlucky to get dropped after a game (can't quite remember the team...doggies maybe) last season. oh and Orazio a nice surprise as well

Watching the replay on Fox at the moment, did Ricciuto ask whether Gwilt will get another chance at senior level? Likewise, Dunstall didn't seem to realize he was on our primary list either. Professional commentators.
Just like how before the game Jack Trengove was talking to Luke Tapscott, and the commentators were talking about Tapscott getting more chances at Melbourne this year, despite being delisted last season.
