That was actually a very encouraging performance from many of our youngsters. If our players are all available there is more than a few players that really put their hand up for selection.

I'm wondering who is ahead out of Ambrose and Langford at the moment.

Ashby, Gleeson and Dalgleish are all showing a fair bit and would be worthy selections. I reckon if Dempsey is anything less than 100% fit and ready then he will find himself playing VFL to start the season. He is still marginally ahead of these guys but the gap is very small.

I reckon we will look back at last years draft and trade period and go "yep that was a real good one" with Langford, Laverde, Giles, Cooney all coming into the club.

Melbourne would have to be disappointed when they had a legitimate side in that would be very close to their round 1 side and lost to such a weak Essendon side that likely had about 6 or 7 of our top 10 players out (Watson, Heppell, Hooker, Hurley, Carlisle, Hibberd, Stanton - those sorts of guys).

What's the go next weekend? Rest or do we have an Intra club match or are we teeing up a match against another AFL club?

Dees must be pretty deflated, won last week, then find out the opposition bet on the Dees to win, then lose to a vfl side this week.. Another number 1 draft pick on the way.
