Shuey & Shep Locks for 8th mid and 9th back.

Masten looks good value. Will wait and see with him. Ruins my team structure a bit trying to get him in. Wouldn't call him a lock and leave premium...

You'd better hope he gets a game then. Who do you think he will displace from the midfield as he seems to be a specialist for that position. With Kerr coming back in and Scooter, Ebert and Swift all coming on he might find it hard to cement a spot. But I agree he shows plenty of potential.

Started 26th man tonight without Swift in the lineup. Eagles have talked all pre-season about how he'll be brought along slowly. Might be worth assessing and Eagles best 22 before considering him a lock for the bench.

Or a starting mid LOL...........

sounds like the type of guy you don't want to pick in your original squad. Hopefully get someone else in the mids as a new guy to peak in price then downgrade to shuey in the early - middle stage of the season

I still dont get the hype on Shuey. He did rack them up, but as mentioned by others, I still don't know who gets left out of the squad to give him a go.

Dalziell was rather disappointing. This could be a Des Headland type thing where he just doesn't produce the way he used to.

Masten has won me over. Had a few doubts but he looked very comfortable. Was invisible the first quarter and almost racked up the ton.

Was very pleased with Shuey and Sheppard when they came on...but they'll have to be in the starting squad as opposed to subsitutes to get a better read.

Luckily the Eagles will play again...so hopefully they get more gametime and a better chance to stake their claims.

Masten looked good. A few skills errors and went missing a bit early...but I think you can lock him in for an 85 point average. Just leaves the question whether to go for guns/rookies...or sacrifice a gun to get Masten.

I've got Masten and Armitage and I'm almost 100% one will turn into a keeper. I have 13 Keepers (including Masten and Armitage) with 16 potential keepers (Kreuzer, Gray and the other one of Masten and Armitage)

I agree. Didn't really have any affect on the game at all.

Will be interested to see how he performs next week.

A couple of other notes...

Hurns low scoring game really wasnt that bad. Most of the time last year, they went to Hurn to get a kick out of the defense. Last night, it seemed the Eagles were shying away from it and trying to find other avenues of attack.
I think once the season starts, they'll rely on Hurn a lot more to lead an attack out of the backline.

Butler was solid. Pity he's a C.

Nicoski was racking them up as well. But I am stearing clear of him. Some of those possessions were rather poor and I can see him being dropped to the WAFL as the season goes forward (similar to Lonergan of Geelong).

Shepphard was okay. Tough to gauge Shep and Shuey because they came on literally once the game was over. Wouldn't mind seeing how they go when a competitive games gets going.

Am glad McVeigh got a high DT. Am hoping this sort of convinces other to take a punt. I wont have him in my team. I just dont think he'll be a midfielder for the full season (gut feeling - not much basis). We have other midfielders who are much more damaging than McVeigh.

The only other one worth mentioning was Reimers. Played a half (the competitive one) and scored really well. His kicking wasnt crisp, but it must be remembered he missed much of last year. Not good enough to make it into my team, but if I lose confidence in one of my forwards, he's a chance to get a spot.

On the downside - he could miss the first few games due to dropping his knees into one of our players

didn't really show a good replay - so difficult to see how much contact he made. could be nothing - or could be 2 weeks

given the ump saw it and didn't report him bodes well for him though

Cool cool. Cause WCE are really playing for the premiership this year, so they'll play all their veterans and tried and tested players ahead of all their new and fancy rookies (remember shuey isn't a new rookie, he was there last year wandering around the club with his broken leg and mourning his the passing of his sister).... they're not rebuilding for another go in 3 years time... never.

Lol... dont worry, he keeps it up he'll be in the best 22. Absolute no doubt. They love him over here.

Dangerfield looking very good early... I've also been impressed with young Sloane and Banner. Banner seems to have kept under the radar with the popular choices for the 90k midfield reserves being bastinac and shuey.

Banner is marginally more pricey at $94,500 as he was drafted in 2008 :)

I've learnt 1 thing from this game.
Favour players who play Richmond twice.

Carlton, Port, Doggies, Swans, Dees, Adelaide and Dockers play Richmond twice. Shame that Hawks, Cats and Saints dont play them twice, most people will have a fair few keepers from those teams.
