Carlton, Port, Doggies, Swans, Dees, Adelaide and Dockers play Richmond twice. Shame that Hawks, Cats and Saints dont play them twice, most people will have a fair few keepers from those teams.

Sorry to correct you Hodges, but Richmond DO play St Kilda twice - in rounds 11 and 21 ;)

Yeah.

But the Saints will probably rest half their team against them in the round 21 game.

Maybe it might be worth looking at which rookies/cash cows get to play Richmond in the first 6 or 7 rounds. They would be likely to increase their value better against a crap team like the Tigers.

For reference...
Tigers early draw...
Carlton
Bulldogs
Sydney (TDL)
Melbourne (might consider bringing Scully onto your team)
Fremantle in WA (Morabito, Suban, Mayne)
Geelong
Adelaide (the way the Tigers are going, Davis could rack up a mid 70s game)

Few thoughts from tonights game:

Geeez how good did Martin look tonight? One shining light for Richmond, if anything from tonights performance. He is probably thier best player now and he has played 1 game lol :D. Anyway great performance, scoring 87 in a NAB cub game is awesome (remember each quarter is shorter).

Hodge was an absolute gun! If you don't have him in your team, you are missing out on by far one of the biggest steals this year.

Franklin, although dominated did play on a 3rd year player in Rance, who gave away like 1 foot in height and also Gouridis (rookie player). So don't read too much into it. Although he was very accurate infront of goal and moved well.

Ladson looked good in the 2nd quarter, but did nothing after that. I think he only scored 6 points after half time! Its a good thing Hawthorn won, because we now get to see how he will play next week.

Burtons game today has certainity put him into consideration for my team now.

The big question for him is whether neil craig would put him deep foward- which would effectively destroy his DT prospects- but he played most of the game up the field which should yield him some pretty good scores if he continues to play that role.

At only 230k he could be worth a punt, although his durability is a major concern, he might be worth holding on for 5+ games for a decent price rise at which you could almost do a straight swap for a fallen gun

Dustin Martin would have fans licking their lips, was close to BOG for Richmond and that's his first real heated contest in his career. Should be a great fantasy prospect in a few years time, could he do a Palmer this year? One things for sure, he will have his chances with a below average Tigers side running around.

Sam Mitchell re-assured followers that he is 'the man' in the Hawthorn midfield. Racked up a whopping 38 disposals with half a dozen marks. Took control in the midfield from the very beginning.

Lance Franklin is fighting fit and looks to have his kicking boots on so far this year. Showed some real zip and those lovely overhead marks. Looks to have confidence in his kicking and still loves a goal when the opportunity presents itself. Only slight negative is he is going to miss the first, but should you have reasonable back-up you could dodge that curveball no problems.

Ladson was subbed off, that would explain his low scoring in the 2nd 2 quarters

All those 3 players we originally in my team and have picked themselfs based on tonights performance :thumbsu:

Are you sure? Wasn't it Dowler and maybe Franklin that took the jerseys?

I can't find anything that says exactly when Ladson when off... but i hope it was early Q3...

Will be interesting to see how many knee jerk reactions come about from today's results.

Some unfavourable scores from favourites like Broadbent, Phil Davis, Jackson Trengove and Lobbe.

On a seperate issue...
Is it me or are the defender/quarterback role been thrown out the window for NAB Cup?
First Hurn Friday night, then Burchall last night.
It's almost like teams are trying to find other 'quartbacks' during this comp seeing how effective they can be.

Of those four the only one i was interested in was Broadbent and he played a tagging role (by the sounds of it... didn't "watch" the game) on Tyson Edwards and failed miserably. Considering the numerous other options in the backs around that price i think flipping him out for someone else (pending next week of course) is not a drastic change. If say... i dropped kane cornes for mitchell or something like that (not that either are in my side) then that would be drastic and stupid because judging premiums from NAB cups is always a dumb idea.

Why do people give out false info, Ladson was not subbed off.

The Hawks only had one sub and at half time Skipper was subbed off.

Ladson was "rested" but he still played a fair bit of the 3rd qtr.

I think some people watched the game from their fanfooty screen and just assumed he must have been subbed because he didnt score any points.

This post is rubbish mate and you should keep this sort of stuff off the board. Your side weren't overly impressive; you are hardly in a position to be spouting this sort of shit.

Okay...
So the Hawks DT scores were just a normal indication last night? Half their list got over 60 in a NAB game.
Campbell Brown, Thom Murphy, Lisle, Gilham and Morton got well over what you'd expect them to get.
Shiels and Suckling were youngsters and they got better than expected scores.

I can only see Cousins, Foley, Thursfield, McGuane, McMahon and Troy Simmonds being added to that team and I don't see how they wouldn't have been smashed the way the Hawks were going in the first half.

There is no bias in my statements. While my team was beaten, the game was still winnable 15 minutes into the 3rd quarter. But, if my team play the way they did on Friday night for the rest of the season, I'd be targeting players who play against them twice too. But you add Hille, Ryder, Hurley, Stanton and Dempsey to the team and they will perform well enough to be competitive into the last quarter at least.

Oh, and as for bias, I have more Richmond players on my DT team than Essendon.

Please take the Richmond cap off and give me a reason why players 90% of the time wont score higher DT points against Richmond (who are commonly expected to finish bottom) than they would against any other team.

Tuck and Jackson as well. Richmond's midfield was basically a B-side last night. They also had two players taken off on a stretcher who played no further part in the game. You might be right about teams scoring better against Richmond (and I agree with you WRT them winning the spoon), but don't expect them to lose by 100 points every week.

Sorry to be pedantic...
Tuck actually played last night. But I did miss out on Jackson.

The midfield of Richmond is not the problem. It's everywhere else where they are light on and will be smashed.

Anyway, hopefully Riewoldt gets a little more selfish and plays the way he did in the last half. It seemed the first half he was sacrificing his game to try and give Gourdis and Polak a larger part of the game. I'm still pretty confident he'll have a big season this year.

It's a pity White had his confidence sapped by two horrible umpiring decisions. It's a shame he didn't get a run in the second half. Things look grim for him.
